The funniest fact after week ten: the Dallas Cowboys can still make the playoffs
in NFL Betting
Surely a better bet is +3300 to win the division. They can't get a wild card now so if you bet +9000 you are getting less than 2/1 on your money for them to win the Superbowl from the beginning of the playoffs (almost certainly from 4 seed)
Anyhow I think it's possible, strong argument to say they are the best team in the NFC right now if Romo slots in playing to the level he played pre-injury

Hey flamingo.
Great to read your thoughts on this and glad to hear your optimism. I have loved this hawks team all year. If you'd told me two months ago they would be +190 this eastern conference final (that has looked inevitable for some time) with Kevin Love out, I'd have thought you clinically insane. However, I have watched every minute they have played in the playoffs so far and two things have stood out to me. The starting unit is playing incredibly tight, with the exception of Carroll who is a soldier but is probably hurting as badly as Kyrie but not making the same song and dance. The other four guys really haven't been as free flowing as they have been through the regular season and have all played well only in spurts. My suspicion is that Horford and Millsap are pretty banged up at this stage to. The second thing is that the bench really is not looking the asset it had looked all season. I love Bazemore's energy but he is simply not the defensive presence that Thabo was. Ancic had been a real help spacing the floor but his play has dropped off terribly to the point that he is currently a liability. Schroder's done some great things and I believe he is going to be a great, great point guard in this league. But I feel the amount of responsibility he got in the wizards series was a bit much for his young shoulders and there were some incredibly poor decisions. You can say for him that with his youthful exuberance he is not in anyway perturbed by his mistakes. I miss Mike Scott also. Can't put my finger on whether missing him is big or not but have to say big props to Muscala who was fantastic in the action he saw against wizards. All this said I think the price is enourmous. My hope is having made it this far and now finally being an underdog will help them to just play their game again. I really hope they hit their stride and show what they are capable of, a finals between on song hawks and the warriors really would be something to behold. Best of luck, enjoy the atmosphere tomorrow night, should be awesome |

Hi DreamKillas,
Firstly, the margins in sport are thin. That's why sportsbook's make money (not because they rig the games). The Clippers controlled this series through four games and were clearly the better team but once they gave the Rockets confidence and lost belief in themselves, mentally they gave away the edge and were never able to wrestle it back. Secondly, there are some fantastic opportunities live betting but it is a much more volatile option than betting pre game. This is simply because you have to make quick decisions and you can often trick yourself into believing you are making new, separate bets when you are actually making interlinked bets. I would advise perfecting your money management skills in the calm waters of pre game betting with time to think your decisions and liabilities through, but if you would like to stay involved set a maximum limit for the game and once you are exposed for that much lay off. It is too easy to place a chase bet if your first one is looking bad early.

Melvin has a documented history of winning with payrolls pretty similar to what the Marlins gave Redmond who has gone 155-207 in two and a bit seasons. What harm can it possibly do to change it up because there is no way anyone could describe his tenure as a success?

This team has looked lifeless since the start of season. If that's not on the coaching staff who is it on?

Hi LeRinkRat,
That isn't actually possible, since the divisional realignment, the bracket is set with no re-seeding after rounds. They are actually now split into four groups of 1-4 seeds based on the divisions (bit like the NCAA tourney). Therefore Sens can only play Tampa or Detroit if they advance, likewise Rangers can only play Islanders or Caps.

Curt Schilling said John Smoltz got in the HOF over him because Schilling is a republican...
in MLB Betting
Schilling had a better K rate, a significantly better BB rate, lower xFIP and accrued 4.5 more WAR over 212 less innings than Smoltz. He also had two more rings plus a World Series MVP over him. There's no question who had the better career in my opinion, it's all there in black and white. Just a shame he didn't rack up the all important wins and saves to get past those dinosaurs who vote.
Just to point out I have nothing against and absolutely believe he deserves to be in, but if he is first ballot and Schilling isn't in after 3 tries then the system is a joke. Then again I didn't need this example to know that. |

On what level is he overpaid? This number does not count towards the cap and he is the man mainly responsible for arguably the most important face of a billion dollar company. This number only puts him in the middle of the pack for NFL head coaches anyway.

Garretts moment of INSANITY....I didn't even get my popcorn! Why couldn't Dez just catch that?
in NFL Betting
Fwiw Garrett and Romo both intimated that the primary and secondary short options weren't open enough so Romo opted for the long ball to Bryant as it was one of the few times he wasn't double covered. As you rightly say if they'd employed game strategy to it's fullest they would have been aware of the benefits of a) choosing a high percentage option and b) draining the clock but that's a lot to ask of an nfl coaching staff it seems.
More frustrating was the decision to line up without even the threat of Murray in the first half 3rd and 1.They could line up and tell that green bay defensive line they were running and still take a yard such was their dominance in the trenches. As it was the missed kick and call they failed to overturn at midfield exacerbated the situation but that and the Murray fumble were the real key plays for me. In all honesty they should have had this game sewn up well before 'catchgate'.

He reached out to extend the ball over the goalline. In what walk of life other than football would anyone do this? If you were trying to catch a ball you would obviously bring it in to your chest to secure it.
What baffles me is how they couldn't clearly tell that the ball hit the ground on the review before half time, but they could without doubt say there was 'no football move' here. If they were even applying that rule. The sound bytes from Blandino often make it sound as though the refs on the field are as confused about the rules as the general public. |

OK I KNOW IM LATE TO THE PARTY ON JUMPING ON THIS FUTURE BET BUT IS GREENBAY 5-1 GOOD ODDS TO TAKE!?
in NFL Betting
I'd guess Green Bay can't possibly be any shorter than 2/1 in Seattle so unless you think the combined odds of them winning the other two games is 13/10 then no it's not great odds. Of course if Detroit/Carolina or Arizona can win in Seattle it would look like a substantially more compelling bet......

Hi earthWake,
Just wanted to get your take on the current state of the run defence. I had Miami down as above average against the run, but they have looked absolutely dreadful the last two weeks. Like you I was happy to put that down the Peyton plus weapons threat last week along with the ingame loss of Jared Odrick. However, last night they had Odrick back at full health (afaik) and knew the Jets were going to run but were powerless to stop them. This was really worrying to me as I had wanted to play them this week. Justin Forsett is like a man possessed at the moment and if they perform that way again I can't see them getting off the field against a Ravens offence who offer a lot more in the passing game than the Jets. Have you got any feel for what is going on and how they can fix it on a short week? |

Harsh on trestman for me. A head coach he is not but an offensive mastermind he is. Surely you welcomed back a bigger 'kunt' head coach this past weekend? At least trestman has some basic fathomable in game strategy. And I'm sure that qb who came to will thank him for swelling his bank balance to more than it ever should of been from being an nfl quarterback.
