Luis Nogueira 14-2-0 vs Marcos Galvao 125-1 In the bantamweight division (14-2) Luis Alberto Betao Nogueira takes on Marcos Loro Galvao (12-5-1) Nogueira is coming off a dominating win over Alexis Villa in the quarters and a TKO finish of Hiroshi Nakamura in the semis. Galvao beat both his tournament opponents by convincing decision. This will be a close matchup; Galvao is a BJJ black belt with good standup which he displayed in his victory over Ed West. Nogueira showed a good standup game plus excellent take down defense vs. Nakamura. Nogueira will be able to dictate where this fight takes place and will be able to pick Galvao apart to become tournament champion. So I’m going with Luis Nogueira to defeat Marcus Galvao by decision.
Travis Wiuff 68-14-1 vs Attila Vegh 22-4-2 In the Light Heavyweight division (68-14-1) Travis Diesel Wiuff squares off with Attila Pumukil Vegh (22-4-2). Vegh comes into this fight riding a 7 fight win streak but won his last fight by a controversial split decision over Emanuel Newton. Wiuff is riding a 6 fight win streak and has went 13-1-1 in his last 15 which includes a win over current Bellator light heavyweight champ Christian M’Pumbu. In the quarters he made short work of Chris Davis finishing him in the first round and he dominated Tim Carpenter in the semis taking the unanimous decision. Wiuff will be too big and too strong for Vegh. Unless Vegh can catch him with big shots, I see Wiuff taking Vegh down and beating him up for 15 minutes. So I’m going with Travis Wiuff to defeat Attila Vegh by unanimous decision.

In the welterweight division (12-3) Tarec Sponge Saffiedine squares off
with Roger Relentless Bowling (11-2). Both fighters are riding 2 fight
win streaks coming into this fight. Bowling finished his last wo
opponents while Saffiedine went the distance with both. Bowling has
finished 7 of his fights via the knockout and his best chance in this
fight would be to keep it standing. Saffiedine’s boxing is improving and
he’s got a black belt in Shihaishinkai a form of karate. He is most
dangerous on the ground winning 5 of his fights by submission. I like
Saffiedine a lot in this fight but Bowling has a lot of momentum coming
into this one. So I’m going with the upset here Roger Bowling to defeat Tarec Saffiedine by TKO.

In the middleweight division (15-3-1) Ronaldo Jacare Souza battles
Derek Brunson (9-1). Jacare submitted Bristol Marunde in his last fight
and a win here probably sets up a rematch with Luke Rockhold for the
title. Brunson ventured outside of Strikeforce for his last fight to
take on Kendall Grove at ShoFight 20. It proved to be a bad idea because
he lost by controversial split decision. Brunson was a NCAA division 2
wrestler. He likes to smother opponents on the ground and then looks to
finish. Jacare is a Submission wizard with evolving standup. Jacare will
gladly go to the mat with Brunson. Jacare has something to prove in
this fight and he really wants that rematch. So I’m going with Jacare Souza to defeat Derek Brunson by submission.

In the bantamweight division (5-0) bantamweight champ Ronda Rowdy Rousey
takes on former champ Sarah Kaufman (15-1) Rousey is coming off a
dominating win over Meisha Tate and has won all her fights by first
round armbar. Kaufman has won 3 straight since losing her title
including a 3 round battle with Alexsis Davis. Kaufman has good standup,
decent wrestling and a brown belt in BJJ. She should be considered less
of an underdog then the line suggests but at the end of the day Rousey
has world class Judo and a devastating armbar that no one has been able
to stop. This fight will last longer than most of her bouts but Ronda
should get the tap in the first. So I’m going with Ronda Rousey to defeat Sarah Kaufman by 1st rd armbar

In the Lightweight division (4-0-0) Justin The American
Kid Lawrence battles Max Blessed Holloway (5-1) both these fighters are
coming off impressive victories. Holloway dominated Pat Schilling
taking all 3 rounds easily and Lawrence put John Cofer to sleep with a
nasty head kick in the third round. Lawrence is a good wrestler with
evolving stand up. Holloway holds a huge advantage on the feet and
showed great takedown defense in his last fight. If Lawrence cannot take
this fight to the mat it should be a long night for the Blackhouse
product. Holloway will use his kicks and his speed to dominate this
fight so I’m going with Max Holloway to defeat Justin Lawrence by unanimous decision.

In the Middleweight division (26-7-0) Yushin Thunder
Okami takes on Buddy Roberts (12-2). Roberts is coming off 6 straight
victories including a win over the KOTC heavyweight champ Tony Lopez and
dominating Caio Magalhaes in his UFC debut. Okami desperately needs a
win after losing his last 2 fights. He dominated Tim Boetsch for 2
rounds but was knocked out in the third. This will be a lot closer than
people think. Roberts looked really good in his last fight dominating
with his good standup. Both these fighters are very strong but Okami has
the wrestling advantage. He’s good at working in the clinch and is a
nightmare if he’s on top. I think Greg Jackson will have Roberts ready
to sprawl and brawl and I will not be surprised if Roberts finishes this
fight. Okami has been knocked out twice in a row, that will be in the
back of his mind the whole fight. I think Roberts is strong enough to
keep this fight standing and I see him winning on points so I’m going
with Buddy Roberts to defeat Yushin Okami by decision.

In the Welterweight division (27-6-0) Jake Shields
meets Ed Short Fuse herman (20-8-0). Herman has been on a tear since
returning from injury stopping his last 3 opponents Clifford Starks Kyle
Noke and Tim Creuder. On the other side there’s Shields who, in my
opinion has had a disappointing UFC career so far. He holds a 2-2 record
which could easily be 1-3 or even 0-4. He has fought very steep
competition including GSP Martin Kampman and Jake Ellenberger but a lot
of people expected better from the Former Strikeforce champ. The only
way I see Shields winning any fight is by submission because the lack of
power but don’t see him submitting Herman. Both fighters hold a black
belt in BJJ and both fighters are very experienced. I give the advantage
on the feet to Short Fuse. Shields will have a hard time taking Herman
down, Herman will capitalize on this and continue to pepper Shields with
shots until he cannot stand. So I’m going with Ed Herman to defeat Jake Shields by TKO.

n the Lightweight division (18-4-0) Donald Cowboy Cerrone squares
off with Melvin The Young Assassin Guillard (30-10-2-1). This fight has
Fight of the night written all over it. Both men say they want to stand
up and just let bombs fly. Cerrone has good standup but I don’t
recommend anybody standing with Melvin. It’s obvious that Cerrone has a
huge advantage on the ground so my advice would be don’t play with fire
and get this fight to the mat. Melvin has showed in the past that he
cannot hang with superior grapplers on the ground with 9 of his 10
losses coming by submission. Cerrone needs this win because he took a
beating from Nate Diaz in a fight that was not even close. Melvin has
lost 2 of his last 3 knocking him down the title shot ladder and I don’t
think this fight will help him get back up. Cerrone is too smart to
keep this fight standing, once he feels Melvin’s power he will get this
fight to the ground and shortly after that it’s a wrap. So I’m going
with Donald Cerrone to defeat Melvin Guillard by submission.

In the Middleweight division (16-2-0) Benson Smooth
Henderson Silva takes on Frankie The Answer Edgar (14-2-1) for the UFC
Lightweight Championship. These to battled for 25 minutes back in
February with Bendo taking a razor thin decision to become the champ.
These fighters proved again that there cardio is off the charts and
their styles make for a great fight. Henderson has been on a tear since
joining the UFC beating a who’s who of fighters including Jim Miller,
Clay Guida and Mark Bocek before beating the former champ. These
fighters are very even in the standup and wrestling department; I’ll
give Bendo the submission game (he’s also got rubber arms) but Edgar the
heart. Edgar has been rocked so many times but has never been finished.
Edgar has to avoid the big shot early, he fights so well in the later
rounds so imagine if he got to the there without being rocked, he would
be a machine. I think he will fight a smarter fight, avoid the one
mistake that has hurt him in the past and come the later rounds he will
dominate the champ. So I’m going with Frankie Edgar to defeat Benson Henderson by decision.
