I don't know where this 20% figure comes from. A flicker doesn't sound like 20%. The mistake you are all making is to conflate a few hundred rebel fighters with the 6 million Libyans who will decide their own fate if they get democracy should Gadaffi fall. It doesn't matter what a few jihadists want- the Libyan people will decide their future and I would bet they will choose pluralism over extremism.

Iraq and Libya situations are so unalike they may as well be on another planet. The reasons to intervene in Libya are many fold: 1. Libyan people want us to do it.
5. It is an easily winnable war compared to Iraq. It will not require western ground forces, the coalition just needs to provide airstrikes to take out the heavy weapons, the rebels will do the rest as they did before (they took 70% of the towns at one point on their own.) Libya does not have the sectarian divisions that Iraq had between Sunnis, Shias and Kurds that led to that country's descent into anarchy because of the US failure to understand this and adequately prepare for nation building after the war. Barring Gadaffi BS ceasefires- we will be in Tripoli celebrating inside six weeks. I am prepared to lay coin on this- so if any of you want to take the over on Gadaffi surviving let's see your money. |

All this came out in the Wikileaks cables if any of you bothered to read them. US diplomat to Libya reported that young Libyan men from the east were going to Iraq to fight not because they were Al Qaeda Islamists but because they hated Gadaffi so much and they believed America was now supporting Gadaffi so attacking America in Iraq was their best option of getting back at him.

Yeah, almost as pathetic as right wing Republicans who oppose the Libyan war because Obama is in the Whitehouse.

Let's deign to give them a tryout on the democracy team, their form in training has been quite encouraging. I haven't noticed Tunisia and Egypt descending into anarchy since they joined the party. |

in Politics His pathetic airforce isn't even flying at night, don't like the dark obviously. This clown should have been dealt with years ago- he basically declared war on the west then with all his sponsorship of terrorism. And he hasn't changed, he was plotting to blow up the King of Saudi Arabia barely a year ago, all that bs from him was just to get sanctions removed. I'd rather put my faith in democracy than this idiot with his Ukrainian "nurse" thanks very much. You do realise the only reason why we are over there in the middle east is because of all these dictators? Get democracy out there and we can all pack up and go home. |

in Politics UN resolution authorising no fly zone and tactical air strikes set to be passed tonite. Hope it's not too late. I'm telling you now, a war would not be like Iraq, rebels could be in Tripoli inside three weeks with US help. Libya does not have sectarian divisions, it is a country of six million which now happens, conveniently, to be flanked by two newly minted democracys (no Iranian regime to make mischief). We could be in and out of there quicker than Lindsey Hohan leaving a jewellry store. |

If Valuev performs anything like he did against Holyfield, which was one of the most lamentable performances from a champion you're ever likely to see, then Haye should win. Problem is, this is David Haye and his ego we're talking about, if he comes out all guns blazing and tries to outpunch Valuev then he could somehow find a way to lose. He needs to dance around like Floyd Mayweather on Dancing with the Stars, drop the 1-2 and get out. I really want to load up on Haye (still deciding) but fear the motherfucker will find a way to screw us all. Of course Valuev could just have been softening the line for this bout with the Holyfield fight and be about to clean house with us. And I agree with what Nuttyrich said about the division. It is absolutely pathetic that it could have been this bad for this long- an insult to the greats from the past. |

It's just a cold deck, no way can he get away from that when he has 30BB to start. Nothing wrong with the discounted call pre flop from the BB. There may have been a backdoor flush out there on the turn which affects villain's play.

Not totally sure what you're asking here, you got the money in when you were way ahead and got unlucky so you played it perfectly. As to whether you could have been beat on the flop, it is very hard to fold aces when you have 35bb to start the hand (I can't remember the last time I did this) in what I'm guessing is not a $5000 tournament (what is the buy in?). There are alot of combo draws on the flop which he can shove with so you have to call. The only slight concern is your large flop bet is telegraphing your hand.

Actually, you could grind out a living playing .25/.50. Let's say 4BB per hour x six tables equals $12 an hour plus rakeback. You would need a bankroll of about 50 buy ins to guard against big downswings, so that is $2500. If you could keep that intact and just draw the surplus then it could be done. It all comes down to how good you are- have you played 100,000 hands? That is the sample size you would need, to tell if you really are good enough.

Lemonsky, if you play a Vegas $1/2 NL cash game you wont need to bluff. It's near enough impossible to, when 7 guys see the flop- they never fold. Just wait for decent hands and value bet them. Sit back and enjoy the show, entertainment value is huge in that game and the standard of play is uniformly terrible at that level. Plus the games are available everywhere.
