To your last paragraph, there are a lot more public bloodbaths than public rakes. The general idea is to get a 50/50 split, but its ignorant to believe that some of the lines, especially in the big east, weren't set to absolutely crush the public. I feel like you can see some of them coming, and this doesn't seem like one of them. It isn't a good theory to say because this one example doesn't fit, then it doesn't exist. Ray allen misses his only 3-pointer in a game, therefore he is a poor shooter? Because this game isn't a trap, they don't exist? |

This would hardly qualify as a trap game in the same fashion as some of the other big East games this season, where we see Louisville for example, at home against Pitt GIVING 1 point and then winning outright. Or WVU a couple weeks ago -4.5 against someone the public felt was better and winning by double digits. I agree with the 2nd poster, this doesn't seem like a trap, just a tough game to play. You don't have to believe the game is fixed to believe in sucker lines and trap plays. I don't believe every trap game is fixed, but I do believe an industry that does this for a living knows more than me, and knows when games are going to be closer than the public thinks. I wouldn't be knocked off my chair if SH won, we've seen SJ lose to Fordham. But I expect the better team to win the game |

If you've got it to bet, why not? What's the point in calling him a douche? And why is he in the wrong forum? He could post this in the futures pool, where about 7 people will see it, or post it here. I like the play. Half of betting is about having a rooting interest anyway, what better way to keep up with the whole season than to have another team to root for all year?

Also, any chance I can find some good poker within my BR limit? A few buddies and I play regularly, and I thought that would be a great way to extend a day (hopefully haha) for cheaper by buying into a live tourney or cashgame. The thing is, on a $700 limit I can't really afford the variance of 10% going on something that unpredictable, not that i'm any good to begin with. I play .25-.50 online and do well, and always seem to do better live, but I was worried if I sat down playing $1-2 that being faced with a standard 3x BB raise would alter my play since that was an hourly wage just a couple years ago. Again thanks for all the help, any advice is welcome

How reliable is it to mail in tickets like this? Also, what amount with around a 1k bankroll should I make with these wagers where my money is gonna sit for $6 months. I know a friend of mine mailed a couple single game winners in, but it just worries me sending a winning ticket across the country. I personally feel my strongest sport by far is baseball. That grand from BP came all from a 2 month stretch, not so impressive except I never play more than $50 a game. So obviously another reason to keep up with the season, say on the Royals, Cubs under wins totals, but I just hate the idea of letting money sit that long for basically an even money investment.

Good shit guys, I'm pretty excited. To Shep, I definitely already know who the drags are gonna be, and I've already thought of a few ways to lose them. Were 8 fraternity brothers, but for the kids that don't know, not necessarily 8 good friends. We have smaller groups that I anticipate will branch off.

I sent a friend request capper. To both of you, thanks for the info, its much appreciated. We're gonna be at the MGM Grand. The tickets are lower level, section 106. If you're familiar with the layout of the Dean Dome, 106-107 are center-court so a great view. If the tickets are where they were last time they're about even with the 3pt line or so. Theyre row V, so not trying to pretend like they're old money seats, but theyre definitely quality. Let me know what you think. There's a chance they'll change to upper level. My uncle is a Harris Teeter CEO so they're from him. If a more important vendor is in town then his nephew gets bumped to the upper level haha.

Going Sunday, March 6 until Friday morning, the 10th i think. Anyway, its 8 guys, all 21-23, seniors in college trying to add our last cap to our collegiate careers. Wondering if any of you had any advice, as I've never been before. Me and two of my better friends going gamble, relatively so. I'm more of a sportsbook kind of guy, but i'll be at the tables a bit while i'm there. I don't anticipate the others in the group doing quite as much gambling. I plan on taking about $500 down for expenses, and taking the 700 i pulled off betphoenix to wager with. I have 4 UNC-Duke tickets that I plan on unloading for about another 800 between students here and stub-hub, which i'd put towards my bankroll (if you'll call it that) if you guys think 500 is enough for expenses. Most of us have girls, so I don't foresee too many strip clubs in my future, but I'll make an appearance or two. I only include that b/c I'm not there to pick up trim. I'm more than happy looking, but just wanted to let whoever giving advice know following ass isn't most of our top priority. Just looking for good value, ways to stretch our dollar, books to hit, good ways to play for cheap on the tables without going broke. To a $20 a hand blackjack table, 700 can go quick. Any and ALL advice welcome, Thanks

Where are you getting better than +230 in a steelers ML?

After watching that AFC title game how can any sane individual think the Jets are better than the Steelers? 24-0 and the only reason it was close was b/c they took the foot off the gas and started playing to not lose. Yes it is relevant b/c you think 3 teams are better. The Colts almost beat you with half of their offensive weapons on the sideline. You say to stuff the stats, but they point to exactly what the steelers' Identity is. What's the Jets Identity, if they're better, they should clearly have one. Its all relevant since you brought it up. Besides being more mouth than talent, that is?

Is it not an opinion. If we go the whole season, each one of us would more than likely have a completely different game as the "game of the year" with completely different angles. I too disagree that it is the play of the year, but its about what the bettor sees. Maybe your game of the year looks obsurd to the rest of us too? Like he said, if he covers both numbers going away make sure to come back and eat crow

I'd consider it, but I have no way of knowing if you'd abort, nothing personal. I know i've traded on 2+2 before with credible backers, but you've got 7 posts here. Not that I have many, but I'd consider it.

Our local guy has another game scaled. I liked SDSU getting 5 tonight, but we have it at a pick. Save us the time for the smart asses, were small fish to a big guy, so we get last second lines. We don't tip him off, we just ask for a game and we get the number. Is us being given 5 points too much to not take BYU?

If its Sanchez or Big Ben, Sanchez wins everytime regardless because of his Hollywood looks. Why doesn't Sanchez win every superbowl. Why do small market teams get in at all? As for the 30-50% viewership, I would wager that your number is a drastic over-estimation. The superbowl is a social event now. For females, they attend parties, usually with their husbands, and watch the game for the commercials regardless of who's playing. How many all female viewed TVs do you seriously think are on watching the game? If you want a reason to bet the Jets, bet their ability. I don't know which way i'm leaning right now, but I sure won't be putting up my money because of what a handful of ignorant femals say about Ben. He may be a jerk, he may be a perv, but I don't believe an NFL QB has to rape anyone when nearly ever female in Pittsburgh would do him right now. And I know he's a damn good QB |

Why do you keep saying "wonderful school" and referring to PSU like you do. We get it. You're a college kid, so am I, at UNC, a public university ranked higher in the nation than PSU. That's not what I'm arguing. I do believe there is "SOME" control in the games other than the natural outcomes of SOME games. I was just reading through these conversations and saw where you must have thrown that out like 5 times. PSU isn't Ivy league man. For that matter, neither is my university. I know plenty of morons that attend all different kinds of colleges, so don't phrase it like you're some kinda genius for getting into a state university. Also, turning 30 into 200 or a percentage equivalent is something plenty have done. You turned your roll over 7x. I made 50 bucks on betphoenix into nearly 1500. Who cares? Just keep winning man |
