Don't discount the Mean Green so easily. Yes, the QB is suspect but their defense is legit. They play a very physical brand of football. And they play very good at home.

My line just moved to UNT -2.5 and I'm gonna eat that up. Crowd should be good and loud. The Mean Green haven't been bowling since '04. I expect a big game from UNT tonight.

I don't see this as a shoot out but more of a physical grind type of game. And North Texas has not given up a touchdown in the second half at home in 4 straight games dating back to the final game of last season. This is a good line, as I can see it going either way. Should come down to turnovers, field position, and who wins the 4th quarter.

I got to see MTSU live two weeks ago in Denton vs. North Texas. I'm telling you now, they're not very good. I don't much at all about Marshall but I do know Middle Tennessee is pretty small and lacks any big play potential. They had a hard time doing anything at all vs. North Texas and I don't see anything changing vs. a Marshall team who is 10th in nation in total D and 14th in scoring defense. Marshall should win double digits tonight.

I guess that I'm seeing this game a little different. I've got Carolina here. Cam should have a big game vs. this weak Vikings defense. Someone mentioned that the Cardinals ran the ball on the Panthers, which wasn't the case. They had less than 100 yds. on 28 attempts (3.2 yds/carry). Plus, Carolina is 7th in the league vs. the rush and (held the Seahawks to 70 yards on 26 carries. Carolina lost to the Cardinals b/c of QB pressure, which the Vikings don't have (29th in the league in sacks). I think Carolina slows down (not stop) the Vikings run game and it comes down to QB play, which I'll take Newton over any 3 of the Vikings QBs.

I'm going with the Beavers. This should be a high scoring affair with the ball flying through the air almost every play. Neither team even attempts to run the football, so I think it comes down to who takes care of the rock. Mannion (OSU) has 21 TDs to 2 INTs vs. Halliday (Wazzu) 13TDs and 10 INTs. Beavers should win this one.

Baylor has scored 282 points on the season, 17 of which of have come in the fourth quarter. Translation, if you take out the fourth quarter, Baylor is averaging over 22 points per quarter. Granted, they have played a very weak schedule but they haven't even had to try in the second half. They are going to score at least 50 and I don't think K-State has a prayer at keeping up with that pace. I see Baylor scoring early and often. K-State likes to run a balanced, run first, methodical offense. If they get behind, which they will, watch out. It could get out of hand quick. I'm taking the Bears in a blowout.

I know LaTech has looked like dog behind but its Army. LaTech should find a way to get a W here.

I'll roll withe Iowa. Greg Davis is calling plays for the Hawkeyes. I know he caught a lot of heat in Austin back in the day but the dude knows how to manage a game. They'll score one late to pull of the W.

Outside of Texas, BYU has looked very mediocre at best. They play great D but their offense is pretty pedestrian. Middle Tenn. ain't a bunch of zombies. I think 23 is too high. Take the points and hope Middle Tenn. doesn't flop in the first half.

I saw U of H play at UNT this year and while they have some talent, they don't match up against Big Ten talent. Penn St. is battle tested and has played quality teams, with losses vs. Alabama, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. Houston's schedule was a joke and other than Tulsa, they beat up on chump teams. Penn State's D can play with just about anyone and should be good enough to slow down Houston while their run game will be able to eat up some clock. Across the board, Penn St. has more talent and will play sound football as usual and keep it close. I think Penn St. stays within a touchdown and might pull off a squeaker late.
PENN STATE +7

I thought the line would be a little bit higher but I still think UNT should have a good chance at winning outright. Tony Mitchell should be getting into the swing of things and will be ready to put on a show. Plus the crowd should be nice. UNT plus the points.

UNT should be able to keep this one close. I think two TD's is too much here. UNT was close last year to winning several conference games but kept finding ways to lose in the fourth quarter. McCarney is experienced and should have this team well coached. Canales is back as OC and is pretty creative in moving the ball and working the clock when he has to. Expect this one to come down to the last 10 minutes. UNT +14.

Being a UNT Alum, I have followed the Mean Green pretty hard the last few years. While I haven't seen them live and in effect this season, I have kept up with them religiously on the message boards and papers as well as listening some on the radio. Talent wise, they are by far the best in the conference and they were humming going into conference play. They a hit some road blocks about a month or so ago in some injuries and lack of effort of the defensive end. Tristan Thompson, their leading scorer was in the coach's doghouse for awhile for lack of effort. But he is obviously out now and focused, scoring 28 last night and 36 the night before. UNT has won all three tournament games by double digits and I don't see why it changes tonight.
