GH, why Dodgers? Kershaw has been inconsistent, tends to get high in the pitch count, and LAD's BP is struggling. Stammen looked strong in his last start. Pitching trending in opposite ways with the home teams around +160 -- thought you'd be on WSH with me for sure.

Minnesota received awful news Tuesday morning, as stud closer Joe
Nathan was diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right
elbow and will likely undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery. Nathan
has a 1.87 ERA and 246 saves in six seasons with the Twins, so there's
going to be a significant dropoff regardless of who steps into his
ninth-inning shoes, but the Twins do have several capable in-house
options in Matt Guerrier, Jon Rauch, and Jose Mijares (plus Pat Neshek,
who's coming back from Tommy John surgery himself).
Mijares has the best raw stuff of the bunch and has long been thought of as a potential future closer, but right now he's entering just his second full season and struggled somewhat against right-handed batters last season, allowing them to hit .283 with a .791 OPS. By season's end Mijares may be in the mix for saves, but it'd be surprising if Ron Gardenhire trusted him at closer from the start. Guerrier has been one of the league's top setup men during his six seasons in Minnesota, posting a 3.41 ERA in 401 innings while frequently working multiple frames at a time. He's had a sub-3.50 ERA in four of the past five seasons and has certainly earned Gardenhire's trust in tight spots, but with just four career saves the Twins may be hesitant to remove him from the setup slot for a role he's never filled before. Rauch came over from the Diamondbacks in a late-August trade for mid-level prospect Kevin Mulvey and pitched well down the stretch with a 1.72 ERA and five wins in 15.2 innings. Injuries have robbed Rauch of his once-dominant raw stuff, but the 6-foot-11 right-hander has a 3.59 ERA in 345 career relief outings and unlike Guerrier has closed in the past. Rauch saved 17 games for the Nationals in 2008, although certainly his 26 career saves hardly represent an "established closer." Gardenhire has given no hints about who he'll turn to in Nathan's absence and may end up using a closer-by-committee approach initially, but Rauch seems like the early favorite for saves and Mijares is someone to watch for in the role once the season is underway. |

I brought my '97 Avalon to the mechanic. I thought the struts were bad
turns out the driver-side front sway bar is broken. I get to the
mechanic this afternoon to find out my car's anti-theft system has
disabled my car and will not start.
I knew there was some sort of after market anti-theft system because there was a red bulb on the console to the left of the steering wheel. This bulb has never blinked or turned on, but now it is blinking. I don't have a keypad for keyless entry, I've only used my key. What could have activated the system? |

I couldn't bring myself to lay 1.5 runs, but I did get NYM -1 -132, which is about as high as I'll go with chalk. |

I decided last night I was going to get down on Florida at that price with the situation the Cards face tonight. I am scared of run production from the Fish, so I stayed away from the RL although +161 was tempting.
Thoughts on Mets RL? I think Pedro is habitually overpriced, but I think the Mets shell the Buccos tonight. They stay at Shea, fresh off of a winning series, and although I think Pitt can get to Pedro, he will have plenty of run support.

What do you see in Toronto today, GH?

I'm on Florida w/ you. Olsen should pitch well, and the Marlins should bounce back in a big way off the shutout.
Why not Boston today? I know the chalk is there (unless playing RL), but the situation is perfect for a Boston win. Contreras recently got rocked in Triple A so I think Boston bats can get to him. If Daisuke can hold his own, then Boston should get this much needed win today. |

GH, I see you're on the under in Arizona. Why not Campillo and his sub-2 road ERA at plus money? Arizona at home is that scary?
Also, any thoughts on Cincy/SD (Cueto/Wolf)? I like Cueto here, but I question motivation with these two shit teams.
Thx

I am playing it but won't count it in my record since I don't think many people have it available.
what book is that? you could make a living off of fading texas 2h the entire season nearly every year |

Damn straight! This is my first bet in two whole days! Kidding, I'm not that bad of a degenerate. I took LA at +102 this morning on MB figuring the line would move against me. Since this is now your POD, could we get a write-up? GL to us

You didn't want to want on KC and let Boston get bid up some more? I agree with the play, but I am holding out hoping for a better price.
