Where are you now OP? Congrats Dirk!
Hey Heat, if you gonna try to pay for a championship, at least get the job done like the Yankees can. |

As the NCAA expands the basketball playoffs does sane person really think the 96 seed has a shot? Yes, the teams that make it to the playoffs in MLB did EARN it, at least the players did, by playing to the best of their ability regardless of how much or how little they were paid. I understand the Economics behind it, and the tradition of baseball. I just don't enjoy seeing the same teams every single year in the playoffs. Its the reason there's 100 year droughts between championships. The players do "earn" the championship but that doesn't mean a team with all rookies aren't trying their hardest to earn that same championship. The Yanks and Red Sox are already set up for success, while other teams have to build up a farm team to get there. And then when they finally do turn those players into top notch players, they lose them to the teams that are willing to pay them. The cycle will continue and we'll continue to see low market teams lose out on the players they worked very hard to develop. Just look at how long the Rays have taken to be even a force in the AL East. Now slowly but surely, every one of their players will leave (starting with Crawford) and we'll wait another 10 years before they become relevant again. Guess you can call that greed as well. That's just my 2 cents. |

In MLB only 26.7% of the teams make the playoffs, the regular season has meaning. So you're saying the Yankees and Red Sox actually "earn" their championships? At least the lower payroll teams have a fighting chance of getting a taste of playoff baseball. All the Royals, Pirates, Nationals (to name a few) are doing are home growing their players so they can go off at sign a ridiculous contract with one of the big spenders. Not very fair IMO when you play 162 games. |

I will usually look for value in the ML, which are the first plays I look for. If I see a game I like, but the juice on the ML seems a bit too much, I will look at the -1. I use decimal odds...maybe because I'm in Canada, lol, but it just makes more sense to me. So, I look for ML bets that are 1.80 or better to start. If I see a game I really like in the 1.70-1.79 range, I may make a ML bet on that as well. Once a game gets into that 1.7 range though, or lower, I will heavily consider the -1. Depending on the game, the difference between the -1 and the ML can vary significantly on a game by game basis. If, for example, I want to bet a game with a ML at 1.7, but the -1 is only 1.85, I'll likely just play the ML. On the other hand, if the 1.7 ML jumps to 2 on the -1 (like the Jays on Sunday), I'll hit that for the value. I never play the -1.5 because it increases your odds of losing, and I hate losing. Too many games decided by 1 run. Hey Spidey thanks for your response. I unfortunately can only read american odds even though I used to live in Vancouver. But I totally agree with the -1.5 and the fact that you mention -1 bets. Its given me a different perspective in terms of betting that instead of a straight moneyline with ridiculous juice! |

Theres pushes lol. Wow need to get some sleep! Thanks for clearing that up GL all |

quick question Spidey, since I've never considered this till now since you mention -1 RLs. I know I should know this as a better but for baseball it can seem a little different. So why would anyone play straight ML when -1 is essentially the same thing and there's less juice most of the time?
Do I sound like a noob right now? Lol |
