Yushin Okami Vs Hector Lombard- Ive watched a few of hectors bellator fights. He's quick, has heavy hands and a judo background.Okami is basically a boring grinding wrestler with mediocre striking. If Hector didnt have that awkward performance against Boetsch ..I'd be sold on Hector with a first or second round KO. I think Okami has some chance to play spoiler if he can get ahold of Hector and rough him up against the cage to slow him down (ive seen hector gas a few times) and eek out a decision. I'll say hector 2nd rd KO but i'm staying away from this one too because wrestlers have burned me many of times.
I dont know too much about the majority of the rest of the card besides Dong Hyun, Mizugaki, and Bruce Leroy. Might study up on some of their opponents . But as of right now my only play is a parlay of Stann & Sanchez. |

Brian Stann Vs- Wanderlei Silva- I believe this fight is 5 rounds.Although, I dont think it will go past the 2nd. IMO, I think this is the perfect matchup for Stann. A brawling, declining veteran with a shot chin who wants to put on a show for his old Japanese fans. This will probably play out very similar to the leben/silva fight. Theres always the chance Wanderlei could catch Stann..as we all know anything can happen in MMA..but Wanderlei has only KOed two people in the last 6 years and has been KOed 4 times. Stanns only been stopped once due to strikes..so I'm leaning towards Stann 1st or 2nd round KO.
Struve Vs Hunt- On paper with their skillsets, Struve should win this by getting Hunt down and submitting him ..hell Sean McCorkle did. But too bad they dont fight on paper. I know Struve has a nice winning streak going on but sometimes he tends to fight like a moron and not use his reac. Soon as I think about laying $ on him I envision all the times hes been clipped or Koed. Hunt is 38 years old and hasnt fought in a year..has almost a .500 record and no ground game to speak of. But he does have heavy hands (only guy that has stopped Kongo to strikes in almost the last 10 years). I'm going to guess Struve by sub early..but i'm staying away from this fight. Sanchez Vs Gomi. I'll be honest I havent watched much of Gomi in his pride days except some highlight KOs..but I have watched all of his UFC fights. His only wins are against mediocre fighters who arent in the promotion anymore (danzig might be not sure).Anyone with decent grappling has finished him.He still has KO power but diego has a tough chin and only been stopped once by a cut to Bj penn. I think diego will try to stand early with him and possibly eat a few..then Greg Jackson will tell him to fight smart and take him down for a submission or ground and pound. This is Diegos first fight at 155 in over 3 years after an up and down run at 170. I want to see what he looks like at the weighins before I put any money on him. If he looks in shape i'll say Diego by 3rd sub or decision. |

I saw franklin was at -175 earlier today. I think that is a pretty safe bet. Was kinda shocked to be honest.
How do you guys see this fight panning out? I dont remember the first fight that well..think its been three years or so. Neither men have been submitted in their careers...so its likely this fight goes KO/decision. Its 5 rounds and i just cant see wand's chin lasting 5 rounds. Rich is the more technical fighter of the two and i think will catch wandy coming in like he did chuck. I never count wandy out but his chance of KOing rich isn't as good as the more technical strikers (a. silva2x,belfort,machida) that have put rich out. Thoughts? |

I'd be too to bet on this fight. Part of me says Lavars ground game sucks..it will get to the ground and struve by sub. But then i realize Lavar has 15kos in 17 fights..4 out of 5 struves losses are by ko...and I ask how its going to the get to the ground. I dont see struve shooting a double..probably has to be in the clinch..where i picture lavar KOing with an uppercut followed by some ground and pound. Tossup to me.

If I had to score the fight as a whole..it'd easily go to McCall due to his dominance in the 3rd round. If we're going as it is (round by round) then the fight isn't a robbery..well if you think that..not Iike the mizugaki robbery from last weekend.I think alot of times people just remember the end of a fight and in this case have the image of mccall mounting johnson throwing bombs stuck in their head. The problem is judges rarely uses 10-10s or 10-8s. You can barely edge a guy and get a 10-9 and you can do a lot more damage (3rd round) and still get a 10-9. At the end of the day, I'd hate to be a judge because they have to sit there live with all the crowd noise, trying to score a fight ..while some mma fans are monday morning quarterbacks and pick apart a fight at home |

Judges should use 10-10 rounds more often. I'd have to rewatch the fight to give an accurate opinion but the first 2 rounds seemed a little close to call but the third round was def Mccalls. I assume the judges gave the first 2 to mighty mouse and the last one to ian

I think this fight is too tough to call for me to pick either side. Alves is a great striker but he has been up and down in his past few fights..his kryptonite is wrestlers but I cant really see kampmann taking him down. Kampmann has a better reach and decent striking so I could see him possibly staying on the outside and trying to outpoint alves. But kampmann sometimes has shitty gameplans..so not touching this one. |

Kongo glass chin? He's never been knocked out cold. Frank mir dropped him..and pat barry hit him multiple times and he did get damn near shut off but he came back and won. To never have been knocked out in 25 fights as a heavyweight is pretty impressive
Mark hunt has the power to KO him but Kongo doesnt have a chuck liddell chin. |

He seems to look very similar at the weigh in and the fight.... Any insight on this? Guys, I am all over Rampage, but good luck, as always with your pick. There's one thing that has stood out for me when watching Bader, and someone else even mentioned this in another thread. He seems to lack confidence. I probably lost more on Bader (vs ortiz) than any other fighter I've bet on. Thought it was a fo show! but when he came into the cage. he looked so frickin scared, I was really worried... for good reason. Then Ortiz came in lookin so pumped, it seemed over before it started. Again in the countdown, He just didn't seem like the usual fighter saying he's winning for sure, etc. But more so "this is a great opportunity, nothing to lose, blah, blah..." And then he says "stepping stone", which when any opponent hears that... Just my thoughts. could be wrong |

I just hope there is a clearcut winner. Sick of seeing divisions tied up due to rematches over draws/controversies and injuries.

I'm riding with ben henderson in this one and putting some money on him..not a lot..i'm not a high roller. I see this fight as basically a pickem fight and the line reflects that. I dont think either one greatly outmatches the other in any aspect of MMA..i'm just a fan of henderson and wouldnt be surprised if frankie wins.
You discredited ben by using mma math..."he lost to pettis who looked like this against this guy " and so on...but you never mentioned that he beat jim miller (was on 7 fight win streak) who everyone thought was next in line ..derailed that train for the moment. He is also the only guy to stop Donald Cerrone. Frankie is the king of the hill right now..but he's not exactly Jon Jonesing his opponents. He's had to rematch his last two opponents due to a draw and controversy. Since you went back to the varner/henderson fight..go back to how frankie got to the title... half the guys arent even in the UFC anymore ..matt veach, hermes franca and sean sherk is basically MIA. I like frankies underdog story and how he keeps winning when people are counting him out and im definitely not..but when you compare skillsets and opponents they've beat..they are about dead even.. just my opinon. |

I don't disagree with this list really..although I do think there are different levels of "cans" (if thats possible). For example..Matt hughes..the game has passed him by and guys like Koscheck have called him out for an "easy payday"....but I wouldnt put him in the same category as Matt Brown who has about .500 record and struggles against top30 competition. But i would say hughes is one danas butt budds
