The Gator's also added Brent Pease (Boise St.) as the OC...a great hire after a horrible one the previous year in Charlie Weis. Defensively, the Gator's were ranked 7th overall nationally, and have almost everyone back, and should possess one of the best DL's in the nation. BGSU is a passing team, but prone to interceptions (13 last year)...they lost 6 WR's to graduation last year. The Gator's are also very strong in the secondary, and should pose major problems if BGSU cannot establish the run. Final note: Florida has a very bad taste in their mouth from last season, when they couldn't even line up correctly to run a play, and can't wait to remove it. Yes, i'm a homer, but i cant see BGSU scoring more than 10 points in this contest. Both QB's are auditioning for the starting role, and should be very sharp. Expecting a Romp in the Swamp...Get that cheddar Boom Boom! |

K.W. (if he plays at all) will not finish the game. Titans roll by DD. Fade me if you like, or thank me later...

RF,
Don't mean to sound ignorant, but is your 7 unit pick a parlay or straight O/U wager for the game? |

Hey Shep,
The Ball St. line jumped up to 21.5 and Toledo up to 19.5. Do you think the same about these two teams with the big line moves ? Thanks |

Jevan Snead is going to be one of the premier q'backs in the SEC. Ole Miss outplayed WFU at home and lost the game in the final mins. They also played VANDY tough, and we know how they are faring in the SEC, so far. Houston Nutt is a crafty coach and knows FLA very well. I agree with the letdown scenario as well, and i'm a huge GATOR fan. I'm taking the REBELS and the points on this one...for what it's worth. Huge props to you, SHEP ! I love your insight into the NCAA game and your consistently solid picks.

at first glance, G-Men +13.5-+14 appears to be a gift. maybe vegas is setting the betting public up for a fall. the consensus on this thread bears this out (so far). i'm waiting for this line to drop over the next two weeks, and jump all over the Pats. and i HATE the Pats

let's see, colts are rested, at full strength, at home on carpet, lightning fast on both sides of the ball hall of fame coach and QB vs. nervous norv and whiny baby rivers...colts will stop ladanian and make the dolts one demensional. yeah, give me the colts -10. oh, did i mention BOB SANDERS ? Defensive player of the year ?

if the jags try to run it down the pats throats the will get BLOWN OUT!
they really need to pass early and often to set up the run in the second half. make those elder statesmen at linebacker chase the backs/receivers for the first half. defensively, if we/jags stay in our vanilla four man front, brady will slice our secondary to pieces. all that being said, i don't see both of these things happening. you know what they say about a leopard changing it's spots |

yes, the wads went into their shell in the second half, and almost an exact mirror image of the previous game. alas, they won, and gained invaluable experience. dirk koetter (offensive coord.) lacks the confidence in himself to make the right calls. was it right to go vanilla on offense and play prevent on defense ? probably not. they beat pitt twice at home, so give them their props. can you really bash the receivers if they only get one or two catches per game ? if koetter grows some balls by saturday, and opens it up, jags cover easy. keep pounding the pats, please. i'll take my wads + 2 touchdowns all day.

you guys are scaring the shit out of me taking my j-wads. we normally don't prevail as the fave no way do we run all over them again. we will stop the run, however...which will force big ben throw often, and exploit our achillies like secondary. don't get me wrong, i love what this team has become under garrard, but i sense a trap.

the jags are at +6.5, and approx. 65% of the money bet. i would think the book wants you to take them, as the public appears to be doing. our destiny (jags) is etched in stone, regardless of the outcome. although fred taylor got a shit load of yardage last week, it was only on 7 carries against the raiders, (31st against the run) we (jags) have nothing to gain, and everything to lose in this scenario. we lose garrard, taylor, or any starter on defense, we're done. bottom line - our second string against a first string who is playing for roster spots next year equals a cover for houston.
houston -6.5 |

imho, belichick will do the unexpected in the first half, and resurrect the running game against the strength of the giants - their d-line. he is an absolute genius. this scenario will keep brady clean and will set up a 2nd half air assault w/ brady & co. (if need be). no way in hell eli shows up for this game. he's good for 2 turnovers, and the pats will make the giants pay, as they always do. if you want the g-men in this game, you might want to do it earlier rather than later...

being the homer that i am for MOST florida teams, this spread looks like it might be a trap. i'm going against the consensus, and taking D-Wade and the unheralded Ricky Davis in a defensive struggle to win outright.
P.S. This is a nationally televised event, maybe SHAQ will show disclaimer : i'm only here to provide food for thought, take it or leave it... |

i have heard that bob sanders has not practiced all week. he eats unborn felines for breakfast. this could be a significant injury and his availability for the game. can any of you bettin' fools out here validate my info ? notice how i'm convincing myself to take the wads/under ?
peace, out |

cocknocker,
yes, i'm a jag homer, but wanted to provide you with an injury update: "Cornerback Rashean Mathis was able to rest his groin strain and Del Rio said it’s likely Mathis will be able to play in Indianapolis this Sunday". you are absolutely correct about petersen. when he went out last year with his season injury, we never were able to recover as a team, defensively. regarding stroud, IMHO we will not miss him at all. his replacements have outplayed him all year. grady jackson more than fills the void ! enjoy your analysis, and keep up the good work |
