I don't see why bama o line don't b able to handle Fla st rush (rt slight concern). I don't know if I can say same for Fla st...should be a great one.
Disclaimer ** FSU fan** This response is not an avocation to bet on FSU, but there is some context that needs to be addressed in your post. FSU faced the best set of QBs and offense's of anyone's schedule in 2016. UNC - ACC Coastal Champ. QB - Turbinsky (1st round, #10 passer) Total offense #45 Clemson - Nat. Champ QB - Watson (1 round, #3 passer in country) Total offense #12 Miami - Kaaya (6th round, #19 passer in country) Ole Miss - Chad Kelly (7th round. This kids play should have been drafted higher, but he's a giant head case) Total offense #26 Louisville - Lamar Jackson (Heisman, #10 rusher in county, #16 passer) Total offense #3. . USF - QB Quinton Flowers (#12 rusher in country, #45 passer) Total Offense # 11 The ACC QB play was insane last year and FSU faired ok given the schedule. Again for context, Bama gave up 40 and 35 vs Clemson in the last two meetings and 43 vs Ole Miss in 2016. More perspective - Compare Jalen Hurts' stats to those above (#46 passer, #73 rusher) and realize those numbers were good enough for SEC offensive player of the year. Above is just the reality of how the stats played out and how the NFL valued the QBs FSU faced. Below is personal fan opinion on the second part of your post regarding the Bama OL vs FSU DL. Bama will not handle FSU's DL. Nobody's OL is going to handle FSU's DL. FSU's DL is going to be elite and will look like it against every team they play this year. I follow this team close, and I assure you that the DL is stacked deep with players who should not be that fast at their sizes. Fans just accept that Bama is elite, but FSU is right there with them in this unit. If you are a fan of the trenches enjoy the video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFfk_aurLz8 My opinion on the game is probably a win for Bama, though I think this a pretty even matchup with both teams having a significant advantage of DL vs OL. Both QBs have accuracy issues with Francois being the better passing/reading QB. Jalen is way more mobile, but is a little dependent on his running and may be adjusting to another play caller. Side to side its safe to assume Bama will have the better OL just based on recruiting alone, but I really don't know anything about Bama's OL situation other than historically they are pretty damn consistent. FSU on the other hand has some known question marks at OT and center position. The LT moved from RT a few weeks ago. This player was a DE prior to the end of 2016 camp. His first snaps ever on offense at any level were last summer . He was out of water for the first half of 2016, but showed some skill towards the end of the year (see Taco vs Leonard in the Michigan game). The new RT is a player with good size and technique, but has always had the injury bug. He is just an unknown now that he is healthy. Promising player though. Center played injured last year and got abused some. He had surgery and could be in better shape?? Again an unknown, and most of the fanbase aren't high on him. I have no concerns about the guards. Both guys are maulers with technique. FSU will need to see how they fair against the rush and adjust scheme as needed. Bama should have the bigger advantage here, but I think FSU will be smart offense and make the proper adjustments if Deondre needs to release quicker. |

FSU fan here. Just erased 4 paragraphs about what FSU is right now coming into this game. WAY TO WORDY. I just going to give a very brief summary of what I see. If this sounds basic, its supposed too. Also this is going to read choppy. Our DL is the best Clemson will see this year till playoff if they get there. REAL depth in the middle of the line that we can rotate without drop off. DEs that can cause pressure, and have been playing really good ball for us. Our LB core took losses preseason and in-season. Very banged up. Lost our starting nickle who was great against the run. Field and boundary CBs are damn good players. They will be in cover 1 most of the game. Safeties are pretty good with one 5th year disciplined try hard athlete, and one emerging super star freshman. Names to look for today (DEs Sweat, Walker/ CB Ramsey/ S James) I think our defense matches up very nicely vs Clemson, but Clemson WILL score. Offense Our OL is YOUNG YOUNG YOUNG YOUNG YOUNG. Additionally we lost two starters for this game, and had to replace them with more inexperience. They will have they're hands full with the best DL they've seen. DE Lawson for Clemson is going to blow they're doors off, and Im not sure how we can even stop him with out holding. FSU hopefully will attack the middle of Clemson, because they have slow lumbering LBs. None of FSUs RBs are fully healthy despite what Fisher has said to the media. IF Cook is 90%, he maybe the equalizer we need . He is a true homerun threat from any part of field. WRs are short, except for the freshmen movement which is finally taking place. WRs is something to watch. Lots of young and inexperience, but highly recruited talent is going to get a chance. Clemson is so aggressive that they are borderline undisciplined. FSU needs to try to take advantage of this. Also, both FSU QBs suck. MacGuire is probably the less sucky of two when it comes to our real offense, but he'll miss throws he shouldnt. Additionally he is SO NON MOBILE, being flushed from the pocket is a scary idea. Golsen has legs, but he doesnt understand a pro system at all. We cant run our actually offense with him, and we havent gotten enough out of his legs to justify continuing down that road. Clemson will probably cover. If they dont its because FSU has equal, but young talent that just clicked to for a big game. Additionally, Clemson has not played with this type of pressure before. I think Clemson can handle it, but number 1 is a heavy crown. FSU has nothing to lose and will be allowing new highly recruited offensive players to get on the field. Anything can happen. If FSU can pull a win with this banged up team, he will have proven himself even more as one of the premier coaches right now.

The talent is so deep that at any given moment we could dump points on people, but its kind of raw and mistake prone. This is especially the case at OL. I sincerely hope you got on NC State at 18.5 cause that is a strong play. Real chance NC State wins out right. |

You can't say it's the talent..! Anyway, UF will force turnovers the same way Bama did, and Bama had to deal with Chubb... UF wins this game by 2 scores! This is a common misconception about the 2013 FSU defense. Pruitt came into an amazing situation. The defense he took over was already top 5 the two years prior. When he arrived he got a disaplined group with TONS of nfl talent and a lot of senior leadership. Additionally, Jimbo smartly did not let this first time DC go it alone. Jimbo brought in Sal Sunseri (former Bama DL coach, Tenn DC, Carolina panthers DL coach, and current raiders DL coach) as well as Charles Kelly ( DC for GT, and current FSU DC). This was strategic as Kelly, Sal, and Pruitt all know the pattern match defense we were implementing very well. We had three seasoned DCs coaching up a senior group of nfl talent that Mark Stoops had already groomed. That team was going to wreck shit no matter who was the DC. Also didn't hurt that Winston was setting records for scoring that year and making every team adjust their offensive game plan by the first half of the second quarter. Coach Pruitt smartly left Tallahassee for a sweet heart gig and pay check at UGA, but to me he is still proving himself. I will say that Pruitt is an AMAZING recruiter though. He's worth his pay raise just for his recruiting ability, no diggity. |

I haven't had a chance yet to take an in-depth look at the two teams, but I think this could be a good balanced game. Couple things I didn't see mentioned above. For AU, they get Carl Lawson back. He is a big time player on the DL. AU was the proud recipient of UGA safety transfer Tray Matthews. (UGA transfers are going to be a theme in this post.) Anyway he's been lighting it up according to practice reports. Think Muschamp is going to make a difference year one. For Louisville, it hasn't been mentioned, but Grantham is very familiar with AU's offense. Familiarity and depth is a big plus against that style play. The OP also mentioned the Louisville had no returning starters in the secondary. That maybe true, but they do have 2 skilled DBs courtesy of UGA in Josh Harvey Clemmons and Shaq Wiggins. Both of those players are talented, older and ex-Grantham (UGA) guys. Clemmons played 2 years under Grantham and had 66 tackles, 11 starts as a safety. Wiggins started 8 games as CB under Grantham at UGA. They might as well count as returning starters. Just putting this out there since it wasn't mentioned.

Miami seniors definitely have motivation to make something out of their commitment. The few blue chips that stayed home, thought they were going to bring the U back. Cheers to them, cause its admirable to try to build a program rather than just join the ranks of some team already there. Unfortunately, the results haven't panned out, and this team is VERY fragile emotionally. I really like this offense minus the WRs, but defense is still struggling. Worse is the team as a hole is not in a good place. The fans are at odds with coach and admin to a point there is no way that the team is not questioning Golden and No'D also. There have been rumors of in-fighting after games and even recruits being told by players to not come to Miami..while they were on officials. The long and short is that Miami isn't mentally prepared for hard tough games. If they get down, they'll give in and believe the narrative of distrust that the fans have in Golden.
Scar is very capable of punching the Miami defense in the mouth. I just dont see Miami handling ANY adversity right now. They've been in a tailspin since FSU. Only way Miami wins this game is if they get all the bounces for an easy win.

Been on this site for several years, but rarely ever post. In all that time though, I have seen your deep loyalty to the canes no matter how improbably the next game maybe. Dislike canes, but fair weather fans are straight up pussies. Props for keeping it real with the hate and see you next year.

Look fellas 6 of 8 ACC teams will have bye weeks before their matchup with FSU. We are everyones super bowl as the defending national champ. Does that impact our 1st half? Sure does, but FSU adjusts then out guns everyone we play. Miami will be no different.

Hurricane. I agree it should be a good game, but I just see it much different. The UM OL with two freshmen starters is going to have their hands full. I doubt Golden will risk Flowers' career, but if he's in there he's get blown up. I just dont see the offense "clicking" with a freshmen QB with out good OL play. UM's receivers are not consistent. Sorry, they're just not. UM has no one on the same level as Greene. Miami has a great player in Duke Johnson, but that cant be the entirety of your game plan as it was last year.

Going with your points, FSU's play-calling has been very suspect lately. If your center has been a turnstile, why all the slow developing pass plays? Winston's ankle seems a bit banged up, and a couple of huge hits could make him immobile. I haven't seen him scramble near as much as I did last year. Anything can happen in a game of football, but Im not at all worried about Jameis' health right now. He's been standing tall in the pocket and delivering the football with pressure all over him. He knows his size and isnt worried about taking a shot. He's also gives one or two solid runs a game. He moves when he sees something open, but he is a pocket passer. He's fine. As far as the play calling, I dont know. Im not going to critique Jimbo Fisher's offense. He knows what he is doing with the players he has. Jimbo will try some things he things he thinks are exploitable. If they dont work, he'll adjust in second half. See AU 2013, Clemson 2014, ND 2014. Bottom line is FSU will do whats necessary to win. In this particular game, are you banking on D'Onofiro out coaching Jimbo? Miami D outplaying vs Winston and Company? It may not be pretty like 2013, but its effective on the score board. Miami OL- From what Ive heard as of today OT Ereck Flowers - Injured. Its knee tear, with a surgery on Oct 29. We'll see, but he's not going to be 100%. OT Kc McDermott - Out OT Taylor Gadbois - Out C/OG Alex Gall - Likely Out I think we see two true freshmen lining up for this game. And for me its looking more and more like the storyline of the game is going to be Miami protecting with an unfortunately injured line.
