Kansas State senior forward Jamar Samuels is unlikely to participate in today’s game while he deals with an eligibility concern. He is in the building, and will watch the game from the bench and is not dressed. Freshman forward Thomas Gipson will start in his place.
“Jamar Samuels is currently unavailable for today’s game, because of an eligibility concern,” said K-State athletic director John Currie. “We are working diligently to try and resolve it even right now. Jamar Samuels has worked extremely hard academically and athletically throughout his career. We are certainly going to do everything we can to advocate for him.”
Currie would not elaborate on what the eligibility concern was, but when asked if it was a NCAA issue said most eligibility issues are NCAA related.
The Wildcats learned of the issue not long ago.
“It’s a situation that has developed very rapidly over the last 24 hours,” Currie said.
Currie offered no timetable on when Samuels could possibly be cleared to play, but said K-State is working rapidly to do so
