I see a lot of strategies on here that are based on betting procedures or random, non-essential information.
Strategies need to start off with a hypothesis. X team will do this because of Y. Back testing can then test whether these results are true (according to your hypothesis), or not. Failing to do that could (and often does) lead to data mining problems where something only works because you've got it into a small situation. These sorts of strategies won't last. The hypothesis method can also lead to mining problems but it's less likely. In my opinion a lot (not all) of the strategies on here aren't robust enough in their testing or their hypothesis, and shouldn't be followed. I understand that money management can make a bad strategy manageable, but why not start with a good strategy and then add money management? Just my 2 cents, interesting to see what others think.

There are quite a few very old systems in this forum and if you manage your bankroll well you should make a decent amount of money. The Hat Thanks for the good reply much appreciated and more or less what I was looking for. I'm unaware of how to bet with vegas without being there, but I'm sure that just shows my lack of understanding.

Betting companies will cut you off if you make too much consistently (this is true, I used to work for one). Also, if you can make $10,000 a month on your system, you could get subscribers and make $100,000 a month. It really is common sense, that is, of course, only if you can actually find subscribers, which according to the responses so far, isn't very popular.

I didn't say I wanted to pay for a subscription I was just curious. I haven't looked up the systems on here in great detail yet, but how many of them last? My guess is not many, but then again I haven't looked in great detail.
With access to information the way it is today it's only a matter of time until a system(s) pop up that don't have challenges, when that happens (it probably already has) then my guess is they become fee for use

Just wondering how many people subscribe to betting systems and what they usually pay per month. Are there any people who do subscribe to a system, if so, about how much do you pay per month?
Thanks!

Tep this is just a bad streak, it will pass. I think most people are having trouble, there has been a lot of close and unpredictable games lately.
IMHO maybe take a step back and limit your plays like you were doing a few weeks ago. Having said that, I still like your card and BOL!

I'm not a Leafs fan, but seriously you guys, "AHL Team"?? Well that 'AHL' team is on a 4 game winning streak after losing their best player. It's clearly an emotional/psychological thing. Other teams are taking them lightly, and they are picking up their play, especially defensively.
Just call a loss a loss, not the end of the world...

GL Tepham!
I like following you and I like your picks most of the time. Just wondering, does it scare you a little bit that the hawks don't need to win to get the record, they just have to go into extra time? I have the hawks as an edge to, although I think it'll be close. Always appreciated!

I'm going to open a Pinnacle account, but I was wondering what the best deposit/withdrawal option(s) is(are). I'm living in Alberta, Canada if it makes a difference. I'm looking at probably making only 1 withdrawal/month, and hopefully minimal deposits
Does anybody have anything to say about moneybookers, neteller, instadebit, or anything else? I want limited fees, but peace of mind and no games more than anything. Thanks!
P.S. Tried searching for this, but couldn't find anything. |
