I've been betting sports for longer than a lot of you younger posters have been alive and have a few winning seasons under my belt but more losers, mainly because I bet more to watch a game than I care about the money, not to say that winning isn't more fun, thus i bet a lot of games I should lay off, just to have some action going and only bet football. However, in all these years I've never bought a point, nor have I "teased" a spread and to be honest, I have no clue how you do it or what the difference is, I assume on a tease you simply change the spread and increase the amount of juice or does it have to be a parlay? Having been betting as long as I have, I do know how infrequently the spread comes into play so never had any interest in the teasers and point buying but would love for someone to explain it to me if you have the time. Thanks.

I agree with the previous post on the over, not necessarily because I think it's the best bet but I absolutely hate betting unders and either getting back-doored at the last minute or having my bet go down the drain by the 3rd quarter. Maybe I was looking at a different game but the last time I saw Vick it seemed like he converted every damn 3rd and long that faced him. Of course I was betting against Philly so I may have been a bit skewed but he looked pretty good in that game to me. I've done REALLY well with Indianapolis and got back-doored yesterday and lost and I NEVER win betting on Philly so going on reverse logic, I'll take Philly and the over in this one.

Seems like Ohio wins every other game and now they're due for a loss so on that rather convoluted logic I'll take BG on the money line tonight.

Thanks very much! Aloha Some members enter the free contest here on covers and make picks....the more stars they have the better they are picking. I personally don't do it...nothing against it but for me I just don't have enough time to study my picks that I wager on and still try to put in time to study games in a contest that I don't have any money on. Hope that helps Aloha! |

Sorry to interrupt the thread but wondering if someone could tell me what the RSI is next to some of the names? I've made 5 picks since I joined the thread and all won, which probably means I'll lose my next 10! I didn't know if the RSI was an indication of people's picks or if there is a way of tracking individual users picks? I notice a lot of messages that comment on how well someone has done or not done and was just curious as to how they get that information? Sorry for the bandwidth.

If you read the posts they're pretty evenly split between NIU and Toledo. When I see that I generally take the over and it has worked far more times than not. In this case, a strong case can be made for NIU and and perhaps to a lesser degree, a pretty good case for Toledo but the consensus seems to be that they can both score and 50 in a college game is more like 40 in the NFL even with the timing changes to shorten the game. Thus I like the over tonight.

Geez, what happened, used to be good solid information and everyone's picks and their reasons for making their pick. I generally find the picks pretty well split so have a tendency to carefully read the reasoning behind a certain pick but this thread has turned into a cat fight. In any event, I think the total is a bit low as the home team always seems to put up some decent numbers so going with the over tonight.

Seems like Va. Tech either covers or loses outright, gotta like them only giving 12.

Liking Rutgers plus the 10 and the over. Will take my winnings from Arkansas State (I actually bet on a game with Arkansas State in it,????) and will see if I can double them, if not, only out the juice for the college games this week.

I am a long time reader of this forum but a new poster. Generally a dime player so don't bet a lot of games, just ones that through research seem a good bet, not always right of course and so far this year I have won 10 and lost 8 so a lot risked to make $120.00, not my best year by a long shot. I find 2 things fascinating about these threads. One is the posters who immediately put up "under" or "Indy" without even a single bit of reasoning, let alone hyperbole to go with their picks. I can't figure out why people do this, if you have a pick, say why, even if your logic is flawed, at least it lends some legitimacy to your post. The second item is the vast amount of information regarding the spreads, especially when they're below 4. Everyone buying down a 1/2 point here and there and have you ever really looked at how often the spread comes into play? It's not nearly as much as you'd think and you're really better off simply going with the team you think will win and betting them. Again, I'm not talking about huge spreads, just in the 4 to 6 range, do some research and you'll see they don't matter that often.
