Timonen's on his last legs, still a good PP guy but his ability in his own zone is declining.
I wouldn't expect a "breakout" from Coburn. He's already a very solid player, I'm not sure what would constitute a "breakout" for him other than an increased point total which I wouldn't really expect. Mezaros is good in his own end, but he's banged up right now and his status for the start of the season is in doubt. I've never been a fan of Luke Schenn, I think he's overrated because of his high draft position. That being said he's young so maybe he figures it out. I'm not holding my breath though. Makes a lot of stupid mistakes and he's out of position too much from what I've watched. Grossman's good defensively, doesn't provide much in the offensive zone. 6th D-man's up in the air between Gervais, Gustaffson, and Foster. It's certainly not great. Bryzgalov has the ability to make them a lot better or worse. Carle's ice time won't be easy to replace, no matter what you think of him as a player.

And the owners are crying that they're poor. Big market owner offers a ridiculous deal that the small market franchise can't match, even with a salary cap.
Him getting such a significant amount more in the first few years is what's wrong with the system. An AAV of around 7.8 and he's gonna get close to 60 million in the first 4 years. Should not be able to work around the cap like that.

Probably the Rangers or a team out west now.. Looks like Weber's going to the Flyers, Rangers may feel they need to make a blockbuster move as well.
Haven't heard much recently though, which makes me have a feeling he may end up starting the season in CBus. That would be a disaster.

But Malkin's do an extension next summer and Letang in 2014, so they've got to make room for that. The guy would score 40 goals in Pittsburgh, and can create on his own if 87 were to go down with an injury. That's the difference between him and Neal imo, the ability to create by himself, Neal can't do nearly what Nash can. I'd love to see Rick Nash play with Crosby, but I just don't see it happening, unfortunately.

Yeah.. CBus is in rebuild mode for sure. But, they have some nice young pieces there and coming up through the system, and could grab a few more with a trade of Nash. But Howson's asking a team to essentially gut their future for him, and teams just aren't going to do that.

The problem with this whole situation is Howson's asking price is ridiculous right now. The Rangers seem like the most likely destination, but they've been the most likely destination since the trade deadline last season and that still hasn't happened. Pittsburgh doesn't have the forwards to trade that Howson's looking to get back, and I can't see Philly moving Couturier or Schenn to make the deal happen. Holland's not gonna make a stupid offer, and I can't see Boston doing it either. Maybe San Jose if they're looking to shake up their roster, but it all goes back to Howson being the problem.
I don't know if any of you saw, but it was rumored that the Islanders offered CBus like 7 picks to move up two spots and Cbus declined.
Nash would easily touch 40 goals in a full season on any of those teams in my opinion. |

I loved Britt last year, but I'm pretty sure he wrecked his knee completely and he may not be completely healthy to start the season. They also brought in Kendall Wright with a #1 pick, so not sure if that's the FO showing serious concern with Britt or not.
But if he's healthy, I agree with that one. Think the Eagles will bounce back overall and a lot of their players (outside of McCoy) could be values where they're going in drafts right now. Some guys I'm targeting more in the mid to later rounds (and a lot of these guys could flame out just as much as they could break out).. QB- Vick (if the price isn't too high), Romo, Cutler, Freeman, Ben RB- McFadden (not for everyone, but a full season could end with him as the #1 overall RB) Donald Brown, Doug Martin, Richardson (all should be RB2s in PPR) Darts to throw- Michael Bush (Forte's gonna hold out, could be interesting trade bait to the Forte owner), Isaac Redman (probably going to start the first part of the season), Ryan Williams, Shane Vereen, Mikel Leshoure WR- Decker, Dez, Denarius Moore, Brian Quick, Rice, Torrey Smith, Garcon, Randy Moss, Jon Baldwin, Little, Titus Young TE- Rudolph, Kendricks, Cook, Davis

I don't know, but I've got a feeling the Caps find a way to pull this one out.. Maybe it's in OT..
And people who are saying Rangers easy, the last 5 games have been decided by 1 goal. I'd expect nothing less than a very tight game, if the Caps can get through the first 5-10 minutes without giving one up, I think they'll be fine.

Rangers shouldn't be -150 against the Devils, not with how they've played this postseason..
I don't think it'd be higher than -120 Rangers.

I'm interested to see what Jagr and Hartnell do with Giroux.. Who are they going to play with? Giroux made that line imo, and now those guys are going to have to create for themselves. It almost takes 3 guys out of the picture instead of one.

Parker's a pretty good talent.. Was $$ at AAA just waiting for the call-up. I wouldn't be shocked to see him shutdown the White Sox today in his first start. I'd be weary of betting Chicago.
Wish the price on Parker was a little bit better, I'd play the A's at that point.

A couple have already been stated, but some guys that could really surprise
Madison Bumgarner (dark horse CY candidate imo) Henderson Alvarez TOR Juan Nicasio COL Tom Milone OAK Brandon McCarthy OAK Matt Harrison TEX Brian Matusz BAL These guys probably won't post high W totals, but their ratios I think could be very good.

Then after that they would play the winner of 6 and 3 seed which would probably be the Devils or Panthers, they have beat the devils 4 out of 5 times this year and I really don't see panthers beating New Jersey and then Boston. So there we are, eastern conference finals Boston VS maybe someone like Penguins? Even then you could hedge your bet abit an even dump most of it on the other team if you like. What I really like about this bruins bet is that they wouldn't have to worry about playing the Penguins, Flyers, or even Rangers until the final round, and this year the 3rd team seed is so terrible plus the 7th and 6th aren't great as well so it won't be hard to get there.. . what do you guys think on this one? They re-seed after every round.. If the Devils (likely 6 seed) beat the Panthers/Caps, Boston would see NYR/PHI/PIT in the 2nd round.

Letang's the one they need healthy.. If he doesn't miss too much time and comes back to play the way he played the last few weeks, this team's got as much shot as any imo to make to finals. That's a big if though, two concussions in one season is terrible. Them in a series with Boston a/o New York would be some really good hockey.

Yeah, had a surprisingly great showing with the Twins in September, but there's no way he keeps up a .330 AVG or whatever it was. An interesting guy to have considering the injury histories of Morneau, Mauer, and now Doumit. Probably gonna start the year in AAA.. He made the jump right from AA to the MLB.

I know all the Yankee fans in here are just ecstatic to see Burnett gone, and rightfully so, he was terrible last year. It was a disaster for him in NY, and it wasn't gonna get any better.
But if you're the Pirates, what's there to lose really? The prospects they gave up aren't leaving a dent in their farm system. Burnett goes back to the much more pitcher-friendly NL, plays in arguably the worst division in baseball, and goes into an environment where there's no expectations. He still struck out 173 batters last year, and I wouldn't be shocked if he dropped his ERA to around 4. It also sends Correia to the bullpen likely, which boosts the rotation right away. I'd much rather throw a dart with Burnett than trot Correia out there. Also gives them another arm they can use in the rotation for another year to year and a half til the prospects are ready for the show. Look, Burnett was a trainwreck in NY, but he's had success elsewhere and we've seen what a change of scenery can do for players. |
