My opinion, with the line at 2.5, seems like the oddsmakers want people to back the Patriots thinking that they will win by at least a FG and still cover. I'll take the Jets in this one. Jets will be able to run the ball much better against the Patriots D this week. Also, they absolutely cannot afford to drop a second home game to start the season with the next two on the road.

Colts run defense is not that strong and will have their hands full with Ray Rice. With the game being indoors and weather not being a factor, Flacco will throw the ball a lot more but the Ravens will still try to control the clock and keep Manning off the field primarily with their running game. Ravens defense is stepping up big time. I think the Colts timing will be a little off due to the bye week and "resting" in weeks 16 & 17. Go with the Ravens to cover the 6.5 spread with a chance of winning straight up!

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Anquan Boldin's (ankle, knee) outlook for Sunday's game against Green Bay is "very bleak."
It will be a game-time decision no matter what, but Boldin would definitely be sitting if this were a regular season game. In fact, he'd probably miss multiple weeks with his lower left leg in awful condition. Boldin still has a chance to be active, but he may not last longer than a quarter or two.

I think the fact that the Eagles have lost their starting Center for the year, plus the fact that they are down to starting their 3rd string Middle Linebacker has to give Dallas a pretty favorable edge.

Anquan Boldin revealed Wednesday that he has a sprained left MCL in addition to a high left ankle sprain.
At this point, it wouldn't be surprising if the Cards listed Boldin as "doubtful" on Friday's injury report. Either sprain could sideline a player several weeks, and ESPN's Adam Schefter already reported that the team is "not optimistic" about Boldin's chances of playing Sunday against the Packers. We're still guessing he'll be active, but he won't be anywhere near 100 percent.

Billy Volek is one of the better backups in the league. Redskins are without 2 starters in the secondary and DT Albert Haynesworth and LB Rocky McIntosh are gametime decisions. Chargers should be able to win and cover this game.

Drew Brees will be the No. 3 quarterback on Sunday, coach Sean Payton told Peter King.
If true, this is a complete turnaround from what Payton said the Saints would do all week. It sounds like Payton got scared by the Panthers' hot pass rush. Mark Brunell now appears to be in line to start, with Chase Daniel backing him up. All Saints are suddenly risky options in leagues that extend into Week 17.

Brandon Marshall (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 17 against the Chiefs because of a coach's decision.
Coach Josh McDaniels interestingly said it was an accountability issue and Marshall didn't want to play through his hamstring injury. The loss is a major blow to Denver's offensive arsenal, as Marshall is the team's only weapon at wide receiver. It could also impact long-term contract negotiations. Jan. 1 - 12:32 pm et

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that he plans to play his starters and attempt to win Sunday's game against Arizona.
Meanwhile, Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said leaving his starters in will come down to a game-time decision. The Packers and Cardinals are probable to meet in the first round of the playoffs, so neither team is likely to use its front-line players for four quarters. If Kurt Warner is in the game, the Packers are going to dial up heavy pressure to knock him out. Dec. 30 - 5:10 pm et

Coach Brad Childress confirmed that the Vikings will not be resting their starters against the Giants Sunday.
"We're 100 miles an hour, win that football game. That (resting players) is a luxury," said Childress. "We're not even considering that." The Vikings must win at 1:00 ET to nail down a bye for the first round of the playoffs. Dec. 31 - 4:18 pm et Source: Sean Jensen on Twitter

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt confirmed that the Giants-Vikings 1:00 ET game will determine how much he plays his starters against the Packers this week.
"We'll obviously make some decisions based on how the Minnesota-Giants game goes," said Whisenhunt, "not only with the health of our players but certain other players." Dec. 31 - 3:49 pm et Source: azcardinals.com

Hmmmm. Check this: Updating a previous item, Tom Brady said Thursday that he expects to play the whole game in Houston this week. Brady has pleaded with Bill Belichick to play, and the coach responded, "You'll play, don't worry about that. You'll be playing." The question remains how much. Answered Brady: "I expect, close game, blowout, we get behind, I'm expecting to play the whole game. I wouldn't see why we wouldn't." That's how we see it as well, but be aware that there is considerable risk attached to starting your Patriots in Week 17. Dec. 31 - 3:28 pm et
