I went into the Hilton yesterday and picked up a couple parlay cards to bet some games for the weekend.  I filled them out and bet only to realize that they slashed their payouts.  And I mean SLASHED!  I think all of their payouts are 10-20% lower than last year.  I guess I am done with this book.  At least they got some dollars from me yesterday.  But those will be the last!

Hilton 1/2 point card pays"

5-teams: 22 for 1  (previously 25 for 1, down 12%)
6-teams:  42 for 1  (previously 50 for 1, down 16%)
7-teams:  80 for 1  (previously 100 for 1, down 20%)
8-teams:  156 for 1 (previously 200 for 1, down 22%)
9-teams:  400 for 1 (unchanged)
10-teams: 800 for 1 (unchanged)

Luckily I lost my cards (three 5-teamers and three 7-teamers) anyway so I can't complain about being shorted on the payout!

I think William Hill retained to payouts from Lucky's.  They will be getting my action!

Always shop around when dealing with sportsbooks.  The reason places like the Hilton do this is because most suckers that play parlays and are not going to question the payout.

Sucker garbage is if you play the card a push 1 game it is a loss.  If you ask for a parlay off the board and tie it will turn your 7 teamer to a 6 teamer.  Cards are never the way to go, read the fine print.

I just saw this post from jjgold, the founder of SBR:

"Nevada Casinos won $44.2 million (3.3% hold) in the football category, which includes both college and pro, according to Nevada Gaming Control Board statewide numbers released last week. Meanwhile, pro and college basketball brought in $48.8 million (6.6%) combined to the bottom line showing just how important these next two months are to the sports books.
Granted, parlay cards generated $17.6 million in win for a whopping 28% hold -- the majority of play of which comes during football season, and football also wrote more action on the year."

28%!!! and they want more?  In other words, there was $1.34 billion bet on football.  Only $62.9 million of it was bet on parlay cards.  So parlay cards are 4.7% of their total football action but 40% of their total profit.  And they are still lowering their payouts.  What a bunch of scumbags.

I just went to about 10 books just checking out the contests, over last week and cant believe how cheap or tight or whatever you want to call it what they are doing in regards to this. I used to like to bet parlay cards and many of my friends would too through me, but for convenience I wont be playing at most of these books anymore.  The Cantor books dont even have parlay cards.  They take parlays off the board, and they told me if I opened up an account, I could do it, but what does that mean?  Strange??? Yeah I dont get it.  It must be the corporate world of these cheap person casinos who dont see it right for a customer to have fun and win alittle here and there once in a while
