I've been a member here for like a year and really like the site, but I have one question for you all. How does the covers recommended sites work? I mean I've used sportsbook.com for a few years with no trouble until now, but when I first started with this site they were in the top 3 and now they aren't even on the list. There are a few sites that I noticed used to be in the top 10 and aren't there anymore. So does that mean if they fall off of the top 10 here that they have went down hill and it's time to use some other site? I guess I'm just wondering why they fall off of the top 10. Any insight on this matter would be much appreciated.

I'm especially fond of the way people come in and slam Covers for making a recommendation of an advertiser while in the same breath comparing us negatively to other sites that have also made the same recommendation and also accept advertising and affiliate deals.
We are a large website - the largest sports gambling website on the Internet, according to Hitwise - and we accept advertising from many websites.
We drive an enormous amount of traffic to the websites we advertise, regardless of whether they are ranked #1 or #10, but obviously #1 is a coveted position.
Tell me people, who do you think has the $$$ to bid for a #1 slot on Covers, if it was truly up for auction?
Do you think betEd could afford it? Not according to all of the back-of-the-napkin calculations I've been reading on this forum from haters over the past week.
Don't you think that if we were really auctioning off our #1 slot, we would have sold it to Bodog or Sportsbook or BetUS or any of the much larger sites out there?
Of course. those sites have 20X the revenue of betEd and are a lot more competitive in the marketing department. Trust me. They all would have wished that slot was up for auction.
But we make enough money off advertising that we wanted to keep those precious slots to ourselves.
We honestly believed that betEd was the right option for our users. They were a well-run, low-key operation that had great (apparently too good) processing and some of the best software in the industry.
This forum is not necessarily representative of the people that use our site. The vast majority of our users are rec players who make deposits of $200 and bet $10 per game... for those players, betEd was absolutely the best option.
Hindsight is 20/20. Up until the second we saw the site had been hijacked by the DOJ, we thought they were the best option for the majority of our users. And I guarantee you, those guys at betEd we every bit as surprised as us.

Hey man, who cares how long someone has been a member. They are making good points, you not so much.
Is that you?
Except when it is the same person making that point with 8 different IDs to make it seem like he's got a lot of support. It has nothing to do with how long they have been a member of the site. Get it now?

I'm in no way bashing covers or any sportsbooks at all. So if that's how it came off then I appologize. I've never had a problem with any sports book that covers has recommended or any sports book for that matter. I mean some have started to pay slower than others but I've always gotten my money. All I was wanting to know is if they fall off because of a rating system like SBR or how that works. I mean maybe it's none of my business why they fall off because I haven't been posting long enough. Anyway just wanted to clear that up because I don't want to be one of the people that are looking to blame somebody. Thanks,
