Of course, after today's shooting, the satire becomes even funnier.

there wouldn't be any jubilant throngs of people anywhere near that worthless fat ugly girl

to get back on topic, there are roughly 311 million people living in the u.s. and approx 20 mass shooting per year (according to the brady campaign to prevent violence) Certainly not acceptable numbers, but when you do the math...

and finally, don't see much humor in it myself

Humor is the only way to understand insanity, which it is.  I see the gun violence as an example of that old adage, "the chickens have come home to roost."  We've been at war, or involved in various military invasions, for the better half of 22 years now.  Violence ALWAYS begets violence and abroad we're obviously seen as imperialistic.  So, it's insane, sad, and the only way I can "understand" it is with a sense of humor and irony.  We have a very sick society and a crumbling social structure.  Innocence is lost.

it wasn't meant personally, but i think you know that. I would agree with the view of  the U.S. being seen as imperialistic and the crumbling social structure comment

Adding to the insanity...

"Some of the people wounded may have been shot by responding police officers, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said."
