perhaps we should invade canada and stop them and their evil socialist ways?

maybe adhering to a 200+ year old document written by a bunch of white racist slave owners who hate women and minorities isnt such a good idea???

Good read, not much beyond that. Canadians very well should be proud. However the article doesn't take into affect the disparity in population size in relation to average household net worth.

And our uemployment rate is only at 8.2 %? It's an election year, so why not right?

In the eyes of many Canadians, Canada isn't really a socialist country.   Actually,  Canada's advantages are in peace, order and good government.  US is sliding because of self-inflicted problems such as stupid wars which destroy national wealth.

The article mentioned that spending cuts combined with socialism (which I assume is a progressive tax rate) has led to more prosperity than the US is seeing.

Most conservatives don't mind paying taxes if they knew the govt was spending it wisely.

It is hard to compare the US to Canada because of the size of the countries and the spending our govt does. If Obama lets the Bush tax cuts expire, and the rates go back to the Clinton days, that will only generate enough taxes to pay for 8.5 days of govt spending. Raising taxes on the rich will do nothing if the govt doesn't cut spending.

And you sir, are full of garbage.

The "Clinton Days" had the USA in black ink.

Until Bush launched his war against the dreaded "weapons of mass destruction" and started printing money like there was no tomorrow.

The facts are the facts.

Many reasons exist.

Canada's corporate tax rate is much lower than our southern neighbours.

Political donations are capped at a modest $2,500 per individual OR corporation.

Lobbying is far less prevalent, due to government disclosure and less leniency.

Canada does not spend recklessly destroying and rebuilding other countries.

Canada does not waste money incarcerating our own citizens on false drug wars.

We've built our wealth on the back of a majority conservative government, which is world renowned for its strength in good governance.

Canada has far more regulations on banks, insurance companies, while making mortgages much harder for individuals to obtain.

I think this for starters...

Most conservatives don't mind paying taxes if they knew the govt was spending it wisely.

wisely and blowing the money on senseless and reckless spending with no accountability seem to go hand in hand here...

Also, don't throw numbers out there like, "will only generate enough taxes to pay for 8.5 days of govt spending" unless you quote a reliable source.  Do you have a reliable source?

Sorry Renton, you have one fact totally wrong and thats not your fault. The corporations have done a impressive job of making people believe that lie, but the truth is America pays the lowest tax rate in the world.

http://www.thomhartmann.com/blog/2012/04/american-corporations-pay-lowest-taxes-entire-developed-world

there are tons of articles about this on the net, people dont read them and isntead just keep believing the spin the corporations keep feeding them. The corporations go around crying about how they are over taxed, while laughing all the way to the bank.

its sad to see how many people believe this crap, instead of trying to educate themselves
