Can't wait for Powell to "BeClown" himself in his forthcoming book.
If powell is correct then it showed the lack of say that the military had during the GW presidency in terms of wars/deployments/weapons etc....
That someone with a record of awol made huge decisions for the nation and military and diplomacy with out considering the actual position military/tactical/strategic parts of the decision in invading iraq...
Rick I am wondering what your opinion is on this... I have always stated that military who are educated and experienced in war, combat, tactics and strategy are better equipped to make military and war decisions then politicians... So why not have the most qualified people making the decisions rather then lawyers and business men... Im not saying the military runs the country, but perhaps can have more a of a say in the process...

First of all, Powell turned his excellent career into shit when he became a yes man because he thought that he could not change the culture of impending war. I do not doubt that he will shift and duck the blame to preserve his legacy. I think that overall he is probably a good man, but has ruined his good name.
I am not all that convinced that a military would make great decisions if given more power. They already essentially run the show on the ground, and get to put a lot of input into decision making.
