But the definition of an "assault weapon" needs major tweaking.  Shotguns are almost "assault weapons".

There needs to be more clarification on valid guns.

At some point, guns should not be legal.

Fully automatic machine guns serve no purpose in today's society.  But Long Guns and Handguns do.

But the difference between a fully automatic machine gun and a REmingtgon 1100 is very close.

The legal definition is the number of rounds in the 1100

If forced me to the issue................ and as a gun guy........ it wouldn't bother me to tweak the rules to pump action or double barrell max tho.......... The problems aren't with the long guns but am willing to recognize "portion control" on guns.

As far as  "handguns"............. can do away with all of them, nobody needs them.  They are for guys with small person.

Hand gun will be worthless anyway when dealing with a shotgun.

When watching "Cops"..... neverf hear shots fired......... from a shotgun.

Just doesn't happen.  It's all handguns.

Sorry for the mutliple posts but just thought it through.

Fried would be in favor of "Long Guns"........... but see no need for assault weapon / machine guns..... or even hand guns.

I don't get hand guns.............really?

Can almost think of a better reason to justify a machine gun than a hand gun.

Serious question. Is there no line?  No restrictions?

The right to own those weapons has already been taken from us.  Debating it is a moot point.
With the amount of vitriol and support there is for a total ban, I would not support a single piece of legislation.

that was too easy.  this is my favorite part.

The Kleck-Gertz DGU (defensive gun use) study estimated that there are between 2.1 and 2.5 million DGUs a year in the U.S. The Ludwig-Cook study came up with 1.46 million. So let’s split the difference and call it 1.88 million DGUs per year.

In the K-G article Armed Resistance to Crime: The Prevalence and Nature of Self-Defense with a Gun, 15.7 percent of people who had a DGU reckoned they almost certainly saved a life. Ignoring the ‘probably’ and ‘might have’ saved a life categories for simplicity, 15.7 percent of 1.88 million gives us 295,160 lives saved annually.

i'm all for any study there the word "reckoned" and a key number on which the study is based are used together.  i'm sure bubba and wilbur didn't inflate the importance of their defensive gun use when they were polled for this unbiased study.  whatever they reckoned must be acurate.  i would like to know if protecting the value of one's meth lab from some tweaked out redneck with a whiffle ball  bat was included in the savings.

i reckon that i'm going to find a study that says gun use saves the US 100 trillion dollars a month.  i'm going to mosey on over the some nra site and see what i can find.  i reckon i'll be back here with the results.

Americans think different than the rest of the world. Our ancestors came here either because of the opportunity America offered or because of religious and political freedom.

The day we give up the right to bear arms is the day we concede there was no reason to ever have left the country we came from.
