Wait a minute! I thought when you go for a job and there's this slogan on the application: "We are an equal opportunity employer".
By offering comanies money to hire veterans, is that making it "EQUAL"?
ACLU, where are you?

K-train, when you go out and defend my freedoms, you are my hero. But when you stand in the line to get a job with your $2,000 employment incentive, YOU ARE MY ENEMY.
But thanks for serving

Fascinating.
So Vets can place themselves at a career disadvantage by risking their lives and serving this country, foregoing education or employment experience, yet there is opposition to providing incentives for businesses to hire them?
I guess it isn't fascinating. Just sad.

DJ, i actually don't have a problem with the incentives. I do have a problem with "EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER"
How many flat-chested chicks get hired at HOOTERS?

And K-train, if you get hired at Hooters instead of Veronica, then I will protest!

It still is equal opportunity employer. The employer has an INCENTIVE not a MANDATE to hire Vets.

The government raises revenue by taxes. In the end, the taxpayers are funding all expenditures.

Um, if I was in a position to hire and candidate A and candidate B were both equally qualified to do the job, but candidate B comes with incentives, guess who I'm hiring?
Im human, I admit I'd hire candidate B. But if this was the case, then why not be fair and admit that there's a preference to hiring veterans? I don't think those of us who are not veterans would object and we'd appreciate the truth.

How is that different from the current proposal to provide an incentive?
As an aside, there are no two candidates perfectly alike, thus there is always an incentive to hire one over the other based on the preference(s) of the employer.
