Is it any wonder that as the middle class keeps getting squeezed, Government debts keep rising and so do Corporation profits. As Corporations donate millions to political campaigns of BOTH parties, Washington has become a den of lobbyists looking to suck even more out of the taxpayers. THIS IS THEIR CAREER, THIS IS ALL THEY KNOW.
Obama spent about a minute at the SOTU address speaking about Washington reforms. Romney, Gingrich and Santorum rarely even mention reform, look at who donates to their campaigns?
Only Ron Paul said at the Florida debate: "Im going to cut a TRILLION dollars from the budget".
Am I the only one who sees this?
And I'm a progressive, I believe in government playing a roll. But they've gone too far.
As Americans, we have to suck up our idealogical bent and do what's best for the country. I already have. Don join me!

I think we have to look at the underlying reasons why govt debts and corp profits keep rising. As well as the sad decline of lower/middle class jobs, paychecks and retirement funds......for what its worth hear is my 3 major reasons:
The simple one is greed. Most will strive to do better, attain more, beat or even eliminate the competition. Some do this legally, some not.
The other 2 are just my opinion from what i have seen with my own eyes.
One is the growing industrial revolution/competition in countries that are basically dominated by poor peasant farmers. They now have the opportunity to move from the fields to the factories. Workers and the environment are exploited in every way possible in those countries. Americans went thru the exact same thing in our own farmer to factory revolution 100+ years ago. As foreign factories open, ours will close. Goodbye good blue collar jobs. Can this be stopped? Personally, I do not think so, but that is another discussion.
The other major reason for our recent decline which is even more concerning to me: Technology and automated systems that are advancing at warp speeds. Basically machines and computer programs that streamline the process so efficiently, that if it does not replace the worker altogether, it eliminates millions of man hours per year. This is pretty obvious in our remodeled factory assembly lines. Have you seen the robotics, I have. Whats becoming more apparent and very concerning is how technology is taking its foothold in even higher paying white collar jobs, streamlining and eliminating those jobs as well. Not good for them as well.
From what I see, these our the 3 major reasons we will continue to see falling wages and fewer jobs. To sum it up.. Big corporations will more than likely see even higher profits because they own the machines and technology. Government debts will always increase with fewer jobs and less wages for its citizens. And greed, well, we all know what it does. The only saving grace I see is that machines and technology do not consume, so who will big business sell to?
Would love to hear what some of you guys think we can do to reverse or at least slow down this downward spiral for the American worker and economy. Just remember, govt and most politicians cant and will not ever point us in the right direction, they are owned worse than you and I.

Good points 1 IRON. How come you only posted 219 times since 2007? With a thoughtful post like that, we could use you more often.
You know just about whenever government spends money, some corporation somewhere is profiting. I would think Safeway loves the Food Stamp program. Health Care is a huge expense. General Electric profits if we're at war, etc.
At Obama's SOTU address, he hardly even mentioned the debt. It's like it doesn't exist. Only Ron Paul is talking about. And ONLY Ron Paul is talking about the Federal Reserve.
I just don't understand why he's not catching on like wildfire.

Well stated, it's interesting that people both want and fear CHANGE.
For me, I've been a loyal Democrat and I've probably left the party for good. At one of the Republican debates Newt Gingrich alluded to the fact that once a president is elected, the opposition party will start doing things to make him a one-termer. Newt didn't say anything we didn't know, but our political persuasions more important than getting the country back on track?
Romney is the kind of politician we don't need right now. BUT, and I really mean this, if he gets elected, I'll be a big fan. We really need a leader, not talking heads for the corporations.

It's the Wal-Mart effect. You get what you pay for. You buy cheap things, you get cheap things. Corporations are about going as cheap as possibile. They are too big to worry about quality so they look for cheap products, small margins and mass volume. It's a recipe for disaster. America is looking for everything as cheap as possible. The only problem, the shit doesn't last. Corporations and illegal immigrants coming to America are ruining the country. Illegal Immigrants are taking jobs away due to low wages, they are then sending money back home. They do not pay their fair share of taxes, and the employers do not pay taxes on them as well. They are ruining the small business! They are driving down prices and making it very difficult for the honest business man. Corporations just produce garbage, and they have a strangle hold on the poor.

I respect your honesty and willingness to get behind him if he is elected....but what is so horrible that you say he isn't the right candidate we need right now?
Romney is not a talking head for Corporations, he happens to be a very successful business man but, an unsuccessful business man is in and of itself unelectable...we will never see an average joe get elected to POTUS.
Pretty much everything he gets his hands on he improves. You should have seen the 2002 Olympics before and after his influence.
I get the whole Ron Paul thing, but unfortunately he is unelectable.

What I meant was if you are wealthy, been wealthy your whole life, you are lacking the knowledge of making ends meet. Romney has every right to make as much money as he can, but will his upbringing and lifestyle make him less concerned about those of us in the shrinking middle class? If a problem arises, will he look at it from a corporate point of view or from a middle-class point of view. The guy was a "Vulture Capitalist". He has Swiss Bank Accounts. He pays less income tax than you and me.
It's kind of like Bush didn't serve in combat during the Vietnam War, Cheney got a deferrment. If both of those guys had gone to combat, they might not have started the Iraq War based on their experiences.
As Americans suffer through this nasty long recession, will they trust PRESIDENT 1% or go back to Obama, a guy who has let them down, but is also a guy Americans can identify with more than Romney.
In the Florida debate the other night, Romney said the word "Corporations" three times. He's not well liked even by his own party. And he's up against a strong campaigner. Don't forget, the Obama team took out Hillary Clinton before they bested McCain.
If any of you aren't too familiar with Mitt Romney, don't worry, Team Obama will introduce you to MItt very soon.
It's not going to be a pretty sight.

Yeah,Americans are going to trust a President who allows his chief economic advisor to say 15 months ago "the recession is over"...we have walked away from the brink..
And Americans can trust a President who's Vice-President tells Americans that going into the summer of 1020 will be "recovery summer"
Americans can also trust a President who claimed his econimic stimulus package would do the trick ..
Well, I just hope that there are not enough Americans dumb enough to trust this President with another four years ..
Remember Obama does not own change ...

It is flat out anti American to offshore personal wealth or corporate profits to avoid paying taxes. It takes a real dickhead to intentionally avoid giving back some of the money to the very people or country that provides you with your lavish lifestyle, corp jets, huge wealth and large profits. Treason against America in my book, and you want to be president?.......yea ok, pal.
On a side note I wonder how many people actually think Romney did write a check to the irs for less than the avg. working man. I knew 2 that did. Had to show them where he paid 2,400,000 in 2010 to their 8,000. Democrats and the president love to tell the sheep that the wealthy pay less taxes than the avg. family. In percentages fool, not dollars.
The republicans tell their sheep the same kind of crap. Except it goes like this: US corporations pay the highest corporate taxes in the world, 35%. What a crock a shit, after all is said and done, by the time lawyers and accountants work their magic, and then off-shoring a bunch of profits to what ever bogus country happens, it nets out at 15 to 17%. But but.....they are doing whats in the best interest of the stockholders. Right, best interest of the top 10 or 12 largest stockholders fool.

I would absolutely love to hear Romneys explanation as to why he stores his personal (American made, by hard working Americans) wealth in the caymans or wherever. That would be an interesting, bullshit filled and im sure stuttering explanation. Like I said ......what a dickhead.

Boys and Girls, as soon as Romney clinches, Team Obama will paint Romney as candidate 1%. With an incumbent running, the election is supposed to be about the incumbant's 4 years of governing.
In 2004, Karl Rove changed all that. Rove, riding a 3-legged horse (Bush) masterfully made the election ABOUT JOHN KERRY. And instead of fighting the charges hurled at him, Kerry looked dumfounded. I mean Rove was punching Kerry in the face and Kerry just stood there and took the blows.
Obama is in a similiar situation. Don't think Axlerod didn't learn from Rove's brilliance. Romney HAS A LOT OF WEAKNESSES. And I noticed that during the GOP campaign so far, the candidates have steered clear of the "FLIP FLOPPER" word, fearing it would damage Romney in case he was the nominee.
If you read the President's body language, he seems to be more confident every time I see him. His SOTU address was delivered smoothly. Michele Obama has been all smiles.
And it sure will be hard for Romney to attack Obama Care when he started a similiar program in Massachusettes.
When the economy is in the tank, you pull one of Rove's plays and turn this election into a referendum on Romney

If President Obama can't figure out how to get an umbrella through an open gate ... no matter how good his body language is ..we are in BIG trouble if there is a 2nd term..

Slim look at the picture again, can't you see that he as a mini teleprompter inside that umbrella? And Michele sure is showing a lot of cleavage for a first lady.

That was before Obama had a record to run on. He was a rock star 4 years ago. People got caught up in the history of electing first black president.
This time he has a record to run on. Many things to go after that are out there in the open.
