http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/7995-ron-paul-bill-attacks-federal-marijuana-war

“The war against marijuana causes so much hardship and accomplishes nothing,” Rep. Paul said during an interview about the proposal, noting that marijuana is helpful to many cancer patients. “We knew prohibition of alcohol was very bad, so this is just getting back to a sensible position on how we handle difficult problems.”

The 2012 GOP presidential candidate also said a trillion dollars had already been spent to fight the war on drugs. “And it’s a catastrophe, just as prohibition of alcohol was a catastrophe,” he explained. “Kids today have an easier time finding marijuana than they can alcohol.”

Ron Paul has my support for president... not only for a common sense approach, but also for the ability to work with both sides to try to get things done...

He has my support as well.

But there is a HUGE problem.

He won't get the Republican nomination.

He'll have to run as an Independent.

This splits the vote and guarantees Obama a second term.

The ONLY possibility is if the Republican nominee is savvy enough to tap Ron Paul as his VP running mate and Paul is not too proud to reject the opportunity.

what would Paul as VP accomplish unless the president resigned/impeachment/passed?

I dont think that Obama is  not he right president for the times (neither was mccain/palin)...

Paul appears to be the right president to try to get the country on track after its questionable diplomatic/economic choices in the 21st century...

Politicians still can lie legally,
and the high volume of ads expected in 2012 campaigns
makes it likely that voters will be exposed
to more deception than ever!!

Ron Paul may be only answer left to this nation and its problems. This nation is too brainwashed and stupid though.  We all know the handlers will not allow Ron the media exposure to have a real shot at winning.

If the GOP were smart and wanted to win, they'd put up Ron Paul regardless of his status with the "party insiders". Romney will get crushed, so will Bachmann. Ron Paul has real, legitimate passion and belief in what is saying and has been largely consistent ideologically in his position as a politician (staggering when you consider how long of a career he has had)

Paul screwed himself, made it easy for the repubs to likely push him out and quick.

You Paul fans make me laugh, we all sit here and complain about politicians we dont like or how bad of a job they are doing..all the while Paul is a career politician himself. The only reason why he left for a short time is he lost his senate race bid.

If you are looking for someone outside the system, this is not your candidate.

He does know how to cater to the younger group, just like last election..they will put his stupid bandit signs all over town here, but those young "legalize pot" voters arent who decide the election.

I appreciate him for shooting himself in the foot, it makes the exit easier and quicker.

If a candidate is a career politician and has lost a Senate bid, or a Governorship it shouldn't be held as a mark against him.. when running for Presidency .....

...or we wouldn't have ever had the "Comeback Kid".......

I'll never waste my vote again on an Independent, Democrats would love that to happen, Obama would win hands down.

Screw Obama and the PHONY Democrats.

If by some chance RP wins the repub primary I will vote for him out of protest first of all, and secondly because i believe in a lot of what he stands for- also, his more extreme ideas will never get through the legislature.  I'm of the late great george carlin school of politics, and in FL as an indy i can't vote in primaries, but RP gets my protest vote fo shure!!

Regardless of what lip service may be given by some, the last nominee the Republican insiders & power brokers want to see is Ron Paul. What does that say about the GOP itself? Whether you like his positions or not or think he'd make a good prez (& I have my qualms though I like him & many of his views), the fact that he's not even treated seriously by his own party says alot. It's a bit of a mystery to me why if he's serious about winning he doesn't run as an independent, realities being what they are. Not sure I'm voting for prez anymore unless there are real structural changes made. Not sure it matters that much anymore & has become too much of a show & more like reality or game show TV (whatever happened to Monty Hall?,lol) than anything else -

Hemp is inferior to many other options, such as importing Brasilian stalk, there are many more superior uses of land than hemp production, we really should just stop with ethanol completely and then we have no other crutches to keep hemp in any large production scale.

on the off chance Paul ever gets (s)elected...do you think he will be successful in dismantling the federal reserve? highly doubt it...he would get whacked.
