major hypocrites on both sides of this issue, or to put it another way, business as usual.
the economy would suffer but these people don't care about the economy, they care about what is or isn't going into their own pockets. and it is that interest that runs our government.

Listen to this dumbass...........
Dont take the illegals away!
What part of illegal dont you understand
I heard barrack hussein say earlier this week about how in the 20's and 30's people had thoughts of stopping legal immigration in this country. They were tired of legal immigrants taking their jobs. Mr hussein then said "Do we want to go to the past and bring up the same problems?"
what a buffoon of a prez.
So if were against illegal aliens, then we are like the bigots of yesteryear who were against LEGAL IMMIGRATION
SO NOW THAT WERE AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, we must be racists.
what a pieces of shit we have aws leaders of the greatest country in the world

Rick you have hit the nail on the head. History will look very poorly on this era in USA. This is not too much more than modern slavery.
The answer is not to grant amnesty, but to start to aggressively go after those that employ illegals. It's law that is currently on the books. All that is needed is some beaurocrats with some balls, and an overhauled ICE.
There is no need... I repeate NO NEED WHATSOEVER for any immigration reform. You go after those employing illegals, and the problem is solved very quickly. For those that keep making the argument that our economy needs the cheap illegal labor, they could not be more wrong. The cheap illegal labor is the PROBLEM. Put more demand for legal Americans in the workforce, and the economy improves, and the tax base goes back up. Today's situation makes my head spin. Both parties are equally to blame.

I could not agree more, but I feel you are saying it with sarcasm, meaning you cannot see how this will benefit.
I'm generalizing I know, but illegals work for whatever they can earn to live, with billions being sent back to home south of the border. This is like a knife to our economy. On top of that, illegals are a huge burden to the economy in many ways... they do not add to the tax base (except for some sales tax). They are taxing US with the fact that they are allowed to send kids to school (thank you Mr. legal taxpayer for educating them). The list goes on and on. Medical care, etc.
If we were to create a large disincentive for employers to go the illegal route (it can easily be done), then the illegals will deport themselves when they realize there is no work for them here. The supply/emand curve will shift significantly for the legal citizens, and wages would increase. The old tired argument that it would only effect a few industries is ludicrous. There is a relationship between all workers, and all skill levels in such a complex economy. Any worthwhile economist knows this.
So with the increase in wages comes a better way of life for those that are legal. More Americans are working, for higher wages and the tax base skyrockets. Any entity of goverment would love that don't you think?
The only argument against all of this on a macro-economic level is that US products and services would become less competitive overseas. I see this as a very small downside, and likely far overstated and misunderstood.
Now let's talk about the moral argument. I do believe that this era will be very much frowned upon in the future looking back. Modern day slavery. Come into our country (wink wink)... no cicitzenship, no vote, but please work. Do not call the police when you need, you fear of being deported. It's unreal the hypocrisy of anybody that thinks that illegal workers are a net benefit to us (Americans). It's like a boat achor to our economy.
