Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid ripped into what he described as Republican obstructionism.

"Republicans denied adequate health care to the heroes who developed illnesses from rushing into burning buildings on 9/11," Reid said. "Yet they will stop at nothing to give tax breaks to millionaires and CEOs, even though they will explode our deficit and fail to create jobs.

"That tells you everything you need to know about their priorities," he said.

The measure could be brought back to the Senate floor before the current Congress adjourns in the next several days.

When it became clear the bill would not muster 60 votes, Reid ended up voting "no" so he could call for another vote on the bill under Senate rules.

harry reid made it a political issue the moment the bill was put up for a vote. maybe if you werent in such a rush to post your bullshit comments, you would have read that.

if i tell you, you cannot come into my store until the janitor finishes mopping the floor, but you come in anyways, why would you be mad that i threw you out.  that is essentially what happened with the this bill. reid knew the republicans would block any legislation before the tax cut bill was finalized so he made this a political issue.

and actually it was a smart, albeit scumbag, move on his part.  if the bill passes, great, if not, he has political fodder to smear with but can attempt to pass it again later, when it will surely pass. but its a sad commentary on politics and society that this type of practice is so common (and by both sides)

Rather than referring brainlessly to obstructionism and trumpeting the liberal party line, please expound on specifics. What exactly were the terms of this bill? What were the costs? The benefits? Where exactly was the money to come from? What about the trillions of dollars O'jackass stole from the American public?

At this point, if Reid, Pelosi, and Obama are for something, 60% of the public is against it, which is a pretty good reason to reject it.

Wouldn't of mattered if the number was a mil or more (or created more jobs or not) instead of $250K. The 'pubs were gonna keep the cuts for everyone or take their ball & go home. Screw the folks who need it the most unless we get what we want

Also if you bothered to read the thread i clearly stated this shouldnt be about politics, democrat or republican.  This is about people who got hurt and killed on one of the worst days in our countries history.  Obviously you dont give a shit about those people and thats your choice.  Am 99.9 percent sure that in the case of this bill, the majority of public would be all for passing it.

cd - the senate dems passed healthcare with 51 votes. theyhave shown they can pass anything they want through reconciliation. instead they played politics with this knowing the R;s would vote no on everything until the tax rate deal was worked out

be upset with both but dont think the dems are looking out for anyone. they are scoring points

I believe that the middle class and lower class should be worried about more then the wealthy, if thats class warfare so be it.  Personally i dont give a crap if bill gates gets a tax cut but i do care if some middle class or lower class gets one.  If you want to stand up for the rich, thats entirely your choice but the way i see it is, they already get more breaks then other people.
