This is going to be the biggest mistake our country has ever made.  You really got to be brain dead to believe that the govt is going to lower the cost of healthcare by running it You think we pay alot now thru the insurance companies,just wait until our own govt rapes the piss out of us.   I just want all the liberals here to remember this when it happens.

This is a really bad day for this once great country. We've been in decline as a nation for some time, but this could be one of the final straws. The election of this Marxist ass clown with all his readily apparent negative traits was the writing on the wall as to just how far the sensibilities of this country have fallen. I'm not sure that there will or can be a rebound from this. Prepare to pay taxes like you've never seen before and do WITHOUT medical care. This is a major mess to put it in PG terms. I have a background in benefits administration and know quite a bit about health insurance.

Two things are certain: (1) premium prices will go up for all of us and (2) many states will take a kick to the gut when they are hit with the huge cost of all the new Medicaid enrollees.

J6P will cry foul when he ends up paying even more for insurance. States will sink under the new expenses and have to make cuts in other areas like education or raise taxes.

The advice to "choose your state carefully" is very true. Now is the time to move somewhere with a low rate of Medicaid/diabetes/smoking/illegals,etc. Especially since personal responsibility is nowhere to be found in this so called reform.

Yes, I said illegals. Once millions of illegals reach the end of the glorious "path to citizenship" that is being proposed, they will qualify for $5,000+ per person (or whatever the bill ends up saying) in gov't subsidy to pay their premiums. Yeah! Or they will just shift 'em all to Medicaid.

The total lack of understanding from our leadership regarding this bill is sickening (but not unexpected). The consequences are going to be realized in so many ways that our heads will spin.

You keep saying that lawyers, as in plural, are going to make out and it just isn't true. The bill doesn't change current med mal law, so if anything, it remains status quo, with the exception of the current ability of states to continue to institute med mal screening panels. Additionally, only about 5% of lawyers do med mal cases. If anything, lawyers would be adversely effected because of the increase in individual taxes.

First off DJ am not even talking about the medical mal practice law, but lest get one fact perfectly clear because like the good lawyer you are just happened to leave this out.  When you add 40 million people to the insurance rolls, your going to have very lot of new medical mal practice cases, which will be a friggin money bonanza for your fellow lawyer buddies, {which could have been controlled some what if the damn politicians would have added tort reform to the bill} so to sit here nad say lawyer arent going to make out on this bill is pure lawyer bs.

Secondly what i was rtalking about with this bill and how lawyers were going to make out, is by the thousands of new lawyers that will now be on the govt payroll, which they will need to manage all the damn depts this medical bill is going to create. I believe it was posted that there was going to be something like 100 and something differnt boards, all of which will need their own team of lawyers to handle the millions and millions of people that will be on the govt plan. Plain and simple this bill is a friggin goldmine for your lawyer buddies and you can try to say its not all you want, but we both know what the truth is.

Well, apparently you are talking about med mal cases since that is your point. As I said, the number of lawyers who do med mal are minimal. It is an extremely specialized area. Even if there was an increase in such lawsuits, the overall affect of bill would costs lawyers in new taxes. Keep in mind that many states, including mine, have enacted screening panels that limit claims.

As far as thousands of new lawyers, I doubt it. The jobs you are referring to won't be high paying and most lawyers are saddled with high debt. Government jobs, unless they accompany a loan forgiveness program, usually don't pay enough to make ends meet.

But I do agree that the bill will create new jobs. Just another reason for supporting it.

This bill is a big pile of crap.   People will now have the cost of their medcial insurance added to their incomes to figure out what their taxes will be  Bravo great job.  So a person with a 15k insurance policy and making 25k a year will suddenly be paying taxes on 40k  Thats one huge tax hit for people.  They will be wishing they could just go back to having their medical insurance premiums raised.   Pretty sweet right dj, but our govt is looking out for us thou

There are doctors now who are getting out of the business due to the high cost of mal practice insurance, can you imagine whats gonna happen with 40 million more people added to the roles
