#1 Posted: 10/3/2008 11:48:35 AM If I remember correctly, G-dub had a pretty solid lead on Kerry in 2004.....I know I layed pretty significant juice on him to win and certainly sweated it out as he went to significant + money early on election day (live and learn). Anywho, I really think that McCain is going to somehow make this closer then what it appears right now. I think he's going to start pounding away on old reliable....Obama will increase your taxes. I also think that the country won't let one candidate get too far out in front because they don't have a level of trust for ANYONE right now...just look at what is happening with Congress.
If you want to bet Obama and have not, I think it would be prudent to wait this out to get a better number. Does anyone not think that this is going to be close in the end? I just have a hard time seeing it any other way when all is said and done. But I've certainly been wrong before. I don't think we've seen the end of the republican campaign....too much time left to make a few more moves. Just what might those be? |

dear john and sarah...please repeat these two lines ad nauseum
-"if you think times are tough now, wait until obama and biden raise your and your employers taxes"
-"what happens when your employer's cost of business goes up? they will cut costs which means jobs and benefits"

I love money. I hate Obama. I have a big bet on Do Nada. I'd hate to win. I'd hate to lose. Probably have to buy back JM.

#6 Posted: 10/3/2008 1:01:13 PM Last time I checked, it was -170...now -300 in some spots.
MR-
I feel like I missed an opportunity, but these last two elections have been nuts. I don't think we've seen the last of the republicans yet. I think you're going to see a heavy dose of the tax issue.....but they need to get this bill passed (at least in their minds) before they can go back on that offensive. So much uncertainty....I think we're in for a rocky 4 week ride.

I wanted to lay a few K after the convention but passed. It was -138 not -135 I believe. I'm kicking myself in the ass right now.

#8 Posted: 10/3/2008 2:22:16 PM Well, they passed the "give away our money" bill so now let the bloodletting begin. Let's get down to some "real" campaigning with more lies and innuendo on both sides. You have to examine whatever is said by anyone, look for the ulterior motive and discount most of what you hear. Just vote for the one that you think will do a better job and don't worry about all the spin. I am going to try to be less bitter this last month, the country will survive no matter which Party wins. Especially since I am a SOCIAL MODERATE, ECONOMIC CONSERVATIVE CENTRIST. (I was in jail when the test came out, LOL.) |

#9 Posted: 10/4/2008 4:32:40 AM I took Obama early at -145 & obviously feel better about it now than I did when I got it. Hard to see how he loses with the economic issues now taking center stage, but agree with KOAJ that there's enough stuff & uncertainty on both sides to make it reasonably close.
Next debate will be huge & am sure McCain will go after him with more intensity, but don't think it'll work for him well enough to close the gap. There's a big likeability factor here & McCain is already perceived by many as being rigid & a little angry and crotchety - bringing out the fire & brimstone against Obama could easily work against him since he doesn't have alot of room for true righteous anger anyway. Next debate should tell the story on whether McCain can get within realistic striking distance - my guess is no. |
