----------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a segment with NBC's Chuck Todd ended today, Republican consultant Mike Murphy and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan were caught on a live mike ridiculing the choice of Sarah Palin.
"It's over," said Noonan, who then responded to a question of whether
Palin is the most qualified Republican woman McCain could have chosen.
"The most qualified? No. I think they went for this — excuse me —
political bullsh** about narratives," she said. "Every time Republicans
do that ... because that's not where they live and it's not what
they're good at and they blow it."
Murphy chimed in:
"The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical."
Noonan's blunt call contrasted with her conflicted column today saying Palin "could become a transformative political presence."
"The Sarah Palin choice
is really going to work, or really not going to work," Noonan wrote.
"It's not going to be a little successful or a little not; it's not
going to be a wash. She is either going to be magic or one of history's
accidents. She is either going to be brilliant and groundbreaking, or
will soon be the target of unattributed quotes by bitter staffers
shifting blame in all the Making of the President 2008 books."

They were only expressing how all republicans really feel about this pick but are afraid to say it. She will read a nicely written speech tonight, but for all intents and purposes, the election is over.

OK GUYS...HERE'S WHAT I FOUND FROM THE TRANSCRIPT..
Murphy: You know, because I come out of the blue swing state government work. Angler, Whitman, Thompson, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush. And these guys, this is all like how you want to (inaudible) this race. You know, just run it up. And it's not gonna work.
Noonan: It's over.
Murphy: Still, McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech to do himself some good.
Chuck Todd: Don't you think the Palin pick was insulting to Kay Bailey Hutchinson, too (inaudible)
Noonan: I saw Kay this morning.
Murphy: They're all bummed out. I mean, is she really the most qualified woman they could have turned to?
Todd: Yeah, I mean is she really the most qualified woman they could have turned to?
Noonan: The most qualified? No. I think they went for this, excuse me, political bullshit about narratives and (inaudible) the picture. Yeah, but what's the narrative?
Noonan: Every time the Republicans do that because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at and they blow it.
Murphy: You know what's really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is no cynicism and this is cynical. And as you call it gimmicky.
here's the link. it's great stuff guys! Truth hurts don't it??

She wasn't vetted properly by McCain and now the press is doing it for him (fair or unfair).
Many of the potential VP candidates for McCain have been under scrutiny for months and months....it's apparent she wasn't in that group. I don't dislike her at all and I'm still going to listen to what she has to say (putting putting Liebs on to speak was pretty ballsy all things considered and I respect that.....he lauded Clinton and you didn't see the dems put on anyone that would praise a repub....that counts for something in my book). I SO bad want an independent to come in and stir things up....and McCain has done more then pretty much any before him to faciliate that (maybe it's not much, but others have done even LESS). I don't know...maybe it's just not possible.
All that said, I really wonder how they are going to recover from all this (the McCain ticket I mean).

______
This is disappointing....the fact that she thinks differently then what she wrote. But I GUARANTEE there are plenty on the left who would do the same thing. It's disappointing no matter who has the pen to be honest.

I think that the Palin choice will galvanize disinterested folks to gravitate toward the McCain/Palin ticket. She was a good choice, we don't need the same old retreads (see Biden) back in office. McCain was never my choice but now he is the ONLY choice (IMO) and Palin brings some excitement to the ticket. All the jackasses picking at her, media and others, will cause a rebound and cost them votes. A really good election now, very interesting.

It's still way too early to assess. She still hasn't fielded a single question from national media.....EVER!
Bottom line still goes back to the old concept....IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID. McCain doesn't get it. The Republicans don't get it. They are talking a lot about McCain being a POW and Obama being a bad guy. What they are not talking about is the voters and what they care about. Nothing about the middle class, jobs, the economy.
