watched Another 48 Hours (1990) last night. forgot just how much pure FUN those two Eddie Murphy-Nick Nolte flicks were. very fast paced with plenty wrecks, ordnance and some really funny scenes esp in the hillbilly biker bar.

The 25th Hour------pretty solid action flick with Ken Norton Jr. and Phillip Seymour Hoffman (huge fan).....i give it a 6.5-7 out of 10. Enjoyed it.

28 Days Later---decent at best. I give it a 4.5 out of 10. It was almost exactly the same thing as I Am Legend with Will Smith...literally almost the exact same thing.

Thor (2011). usually NOT a big fan of "comic book hero" based movies BUT enjoyed this one because it was VERY "Wagnerian" in both characters and plot. definately had elements of the Great Richards "Ring Cycle" in the story. thought it had excellent special effects too.

watched two "English History" based movies Anonymous and To Kill a King last night. IF you like the series "The Tudors", I think you would like these. posted a basic plot summary thread on both >>> http://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=84&sub=101378808

It's ok to say it sucked............it did.
"I am legend" is actually a remake of "The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston, from around 1972

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011). watched last night and it was a completely convoluted mess with an actress that's a 12 on a the 1 to 10 "skank-o-meter" playing the title roll. a complete waste of 2 1/2 hours. I would say it's the mystery equivalent to the recent SciFi movie Prometheus. an over hyped, under performing piece of trash.

The Thing (2011). decent remake of the John Carpenter 1982 classic which itself was a remake of the 1951 The Thing from Another World. ending scenes in the spaceship had somewhat of an Alien element to it.

Righteous Kill....pretty suspenseful thriller will Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro. I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10. Maybe a 7.

Yeah ad1260, it is the sequel but you don't need to watch the first to understand the second.  I thought it was pretty good.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). OK Marvel Comics teenage fantasy action movie. kind of a slow start until the "wimp" turns into the captain. then pretty much non-stop action. would call it a "there is nothing else on TV"  movie.

I challenge anybody in the forum to sit through this entire pile of garbage until the credits role....I did.

watched Fair Game on Showtime's "Showcase" channel about the "outing" of CIA operative Valerie Plame by the White House to try and discredit here husband Joe Wilson who blew the whistle on George Bush's phony "yellowcake uranium from Africa" speech.

very well acted by Naomi Watts as Valerie Plame and Sean Penn as he husband as Joe Wilson. first half of the movie has nothing to do with the "outing" controversy and is more a "cloak & dagger" spy story of Plame's various CIA operations esp her trying to get the Iraqi nuclear scientists out of Iraq. I was somewhat suprised waht a good pure "spy story" it was. I would say

it's on the Showtime "Showcase" channel again Tuesday July 17th @ 9 am pacific time IF you want to DVR it. runs just over 1 hour 40 minutes.

'Jeff, who lives at home'

If I had paid $30 bucks to take the ol lady to the theatre to see this I would have been all like "mehhh"

But I got it at the Redbox, so I'm all like "ehhhh"

every time I see this movie I'm still amazed at the "transformation" of the luscious  Charlize Theron into the skanky Aileen Wuornos
