8/10
a great movie, dad (Tom Hanks) dies in 9/11, young son finds a key in his dads room and sets off on a quest to find the lock. Mum is Sandra Bullock. Heart warming life events story, sad but a reflection of the ups and downs of family life and the building of a family unit now of a son who was close to his dad, but never to his mum.

#9 Posted: 6/8/2012 1:40:43 PM watched Batman Begins (2005) in Fox Movies last night. thought it was pretty good action and less "cartoonish" than others in the Batman series. their version of the Batmobile was a "mean machine" and the chase scene was excellent. |

Yes, saw Dark Knight which also had Christian Bale as Batman and it was excellent esp with the late Heath Ledger as The Joker |

I hated that movie. The kid in the movie was such a prissy little fool that it ruined the movie and it was a shitty movie to begin with. |

#13 Posted: 6/10/2012 2:14:08 PM The Hangover Part II (2011)
funny "screwball comedy" BUT not as good as the original (there was no chicken in this ones "waking up in the hotel room" scene). didn't think the character of Teddy losing a finger was funny at all and "chicks with person"? YIKES!!!. Zach Galifianakis as Alan Garner, Ken Jeong as the Asian gangster Leslie Chow AND the monkey steal the show. the car chase with the Russian gangsters was excellent action. like in the original, the pictures of what REALLY happened that night during the credits is probably the funniest thing in the movie.
The Black Cat (1934)
just happened to catch this classic early Hollywood horror on TCM thursday night. stars Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff coming off their 1931 blockbusters Dracula and Frankenstein. both are STILL two of the BEST "menacing" actors in the history of film. just seeing either of those two on screen used to SCARE the HELL out of me when I was a kid. interesting use of various classical music cuts to heighten the suspense during the film. it's relatively short @ 1 hour and 15 minutes and well worth watching IF your into the original horror genre OR a fan of Lugosi and Karloff.

#14 Posted: 6/10/2012 3:21:49 PM Act of Valor---i thought it was a pretty good movie in many regards. the unfortunate thing was the horrible acting by the two "main" seals portrayed, but they weren't in the scenes enough to ruin the movie. this movie could have been done much better though with some better actors.
worth seeing, pretty intense scenes. |

That's funny. The only time I laughed during the Hangover was when the chicken walked into frame during that morning after scene. Good catch. |

like Walter Mathau said as Willy Clark in The Sunshine Boys (1975), "Chicken is funny. Pickle is funny. Cupcake is funny" there all words with a "K". Tomatoes is not funny. Lettuce is not funny"
a Chicken or a Donkey is a MUST for a screwball comedy in at least one scene BUT youn can substitute a Monkey. that's what save THIS remake |

Well, it would have been tough to see Prometheus the day I saw Snow White since it hadnt been released yet.
I usually see 2 or 3 movies when I go to the theater anyway. Time them up so I can pay for one and sneek into the next one or 2...... |
