Even though Mad Max had the best record in the Tigers starting rotation, Verlander is still the best pitcher in the rotation and the ace of the staff.  Look for him to shine and put the hammer down on the A's. Tigers win 4-2 or 4-1 type of game.

Miguel Cabrera is walking with a limp... Hes the core of the Tigers line up. Tigers just aren't as Threatening without the triple crown champ.. Tigers have been struggling with offence ever since September came around and especially in Oakland. Yeah they did score 3 but cmon Colon was half sleep in the first inning. And Sonny is proven that he can shut it down when it counts. A's had the last game but their starters just didnt get the outs when it counted. Tigers bullpen is shaky... Oakland on the other hand offence is red hot... At home.. This Series win is long overdue for Oakland. If Miggy was 100% Tigers 100%. but u guys saw him last game hes limping....

Oakland 1G note. theres Value here boys..
3-1 A's Verlander is gonnna let in 1 or 2. The pen is gonnna make a difference.

Linsanity;

Well stated and I agree with everything you stated EXCEPT if Scherzer was on the bump, Tigers would win this game!!!

Going into game four, I had Detroit winning that game and then heading to the left coast and win game five; but when Jim Leyland stupidly burned up Scherzer last night unnecessarily, that was the end of Detroit right then and there!!!  So I locked in Oaktown last night when there was still a slight premium…

With that said, put me down for Oakland ML (+106) for six (6) C-Notes please.  Thanks!

I think the A's can take Detroit! Verlander is not as dominate like he was in the past and those big bats of the tigers has been silent in this series.

Verlander was not as dominant as Sonny Gray game 2, Gray did it with ease, and he can be that pitcher that gets hot and carry the A's to a world series win, I say Oakland shuts out Detroit 3-0. Oakland wins it all this year, they have been the best team the past year, and they have what it takes.

Verlander is back in top form. Check last 3 starts. No runs. Under looks good. I do like Oakland but under looks better.

Miguel  is not the core of the offense (since injury). It's Victor Martinez. I'm a lifelong Detroit fan. Verlander has been inconsistent all year long but lately he's been pitching well. If Verlander doesn't cough up the long ball Detroit has a great shot. Under just may be the play.

I have to say that I do have a soft spot for the A's. I like the way they build their teams through hard work and scouting. And the philosophy of the franchise to not just pull the same routine as (not that they could afford it anyways) DET & NY & BOS ect and just go up to every big name free agent out there and say...

http://www.faniq.com/images/blog/Shut-up-and-take-my-money.jpg

Now that said I'm not taking them tonight because of warm fuzzy feelings. This team can play and I like their teams abilities on the field. And they match up very evenly with the high priced TIGERS,even better in some categories. Both teams have similar pens with OAK sitting in 8th and DET right behind at 9th. OAKY is middle of the pack in fielding at 17th overall and DET is not far behind at 21st. But to me the surprising stat was that OAK actually has a slightly better offense ranking at 2nd overall (4th vs Righties & 1st vs Lefties) while the Tigers and all their heavy (both literally and figuratively) hitters are actually 4th overall (3 vs Righties & 4th vs Lefties)

So OAK is no joke at the plate. They take pitches, work the count and hey they also lead the league in homers this year so it isn't all small ball with bunts and hit and runs. They can mash with the best of them. But they do like to steal some bases and go first to third when given the chance something that DET refuses to do and at this time of year when pitching is always quality and runs are at a premium. That can really come back to haunt you when you bats go cold, kinda like they have for DET for awhile now.

And even though the A's have had some success the last few years they still also seem to play with the Rodney Dangerfield complex of getting no respect. And just because I like them and think they're worth a bet using head over heart. Doesn't mean that there aren't a bunch of squares and betting public out there that will just look right past them and see DET and Verlander on the bump and just think OAK has no chance. And that just gives a solid all around team even more line value as home dogs.

Clifmart I agree about Martinez being the main man right now with MIggy clearly dinged up. And also about Verlander pitching well recently.

I like looking at pitchers L3 starts for current form and his numbers are excellent.

L3 starts 19 IP,13 hits,0.95 whip to go with a sick ZERO ERA

And thats great but before the A's start which was his most recent and yes looking very sharp,it was MIA and MINNY two teams not exactly setting any records offensively.

Tigers do NOT score for Verlander, plain and simple.

His last 4 starts, Tigers have been blanked in 3 and scored 3 in the other. Tiggers have lost 10 of 11 Verlander starts.

In Oakland at night, the ball doesnt carry, if tigers don't hit HRs how will they score?  they don't go first to third on a single.
Tigers get shutout again.
Oakland -108 for a Nickel

Verlander killed me all season, having said that he's KILLING IT in the playoffs!!!!!!!!!

Add to that Oakland is 1-11 in playoff close out games 0-5 in closing out the ALDS......

Can't bet against Verlander in this spot AND +100?!

DETROIT WIN THIS SERIES!!!

Gray a lot like Cole but not better, will get his season end as did the pirates. Look for Detroit bats to come out swinging tonight. Veer lander has been in a few elimination games but Gray not one.  As I pocketed a couple dimes on the cards win, I feel I will do the same with Detroit.

Tigers - 7

I think Oakland takes it tonight and to be honest they hit Verlander well this game. Kind of a hunch but I Verlander hasn't been the same pitcher this year and big reason is his control.  Oak can slug and I look for 5+ out of them tonight.

Any team that Strikeouts 16 times in a 9 inning game has NO Business making it to the WS. 13 strikeouts in the 2nd game also. I hope Detroit smokes these A's.

Oakland came in this game tearing the cover off the ball, but they looked terrible at the dish when the chips were down…  Nice job Detroit and Under backers!
