I've always heard its a bad sign when the public pick is heavy on one side because the vegas (house) makes their pay cheques by cashing in on the public heavy favorites that get upset. 
If something looks too good to be true then it probably is. 
The House always wins, so if you can't beat them join them. Bet against the public heavy favorites.
