#6 Posted: 5/4/2008 1:04:27 AM have to take lakers here at home. Utah isnt the best road team. they did beat the rockets twice in houston but the rockets were the second worst team in the west behind the heartless nuggets. the home team def wins here but the lakers do it big in game 1..kobes hand is still smokin from game 4 with the nuggets...
LAKERS BY 13 or better |

A little worried about all this Laker loving, but there is NO indication that the Jazz should keep this game close. Lakers won by 10+ in each of the last 3 they played, even being one of the four teams that beat utah IN utah. The trip is that Utah has never even seen pau gasol. The first 3 games were played before the gasol trade and the last one in utah happened with pau out with that sprained ankle. The lakers just flat out OWN the jazz, and they got to rest while the rockets took the jazz to 6. Riding the "Fade the Jazz on the road" theorum as well.
Also if you look at the matchups, the lakers look really good. The first and most important in my opinion is D Fish on Deron williams. Fish is one of the bigger bodied guards in the league and is a quick strong defender, one of the few in the leagues who Deron can't push and bully around. He should be able to stifle him enough to force the rest of the team to stand up and that's where problems come in. Okur and Kirelinko are garbage away and a Gasol, or Vlad Rad matchup should neutralize those guys enough. Boozer will run into Lamar Odom who has done an outstanding job of slowing down big scoring forwards (esp. Boozer and Dirk... sometimes David West) Whoever gets Kobe will just hate life because noone can guard him and the jazz are probably even moreso at a loss because their best defenders aren't swingman defenders. He'll probably get Brewer or Harpring and just kill them.
All in all, the lakers are the best team in the west and the jazz still have too many road problems and just like in the lakers first series, they own their round 2 opponent. The jazz will win at least one and maybe two or three, but I say the Lakers take it in 5 or 6. Most importantly for right now, they are in an excellent position to cover the hell out of this game.
Lakers -7 (big) (considering the under, given utahs ability to just tank games on the road sometimes, but won't touch the amount i throw ATS) |

As a laker fan, I'm happy as hell that Houston didn't win that series. They match up better with us and ALWAYS give us a tough time. We generally have the Jazz's number, so that bodes well for us. |

#11 Posted: 5/4/2008 5:52:38 AM WANG....good behind analysis.....i agree with LA.....as far as the total...im leaning more towards the over, mainly becuz in both games played in LA this year, both teams had a avg. of 71 free throw attempts....against a avg. of 51 free throws made in each game........ plus utah gives up 102.9 pts away, and a avg. of 120pts a game in L.A. THIS YEAR....where LA gives up 101.7 at home, and have allowed UTAH to score a avg. of 109pts a game at the staples center this year....... LA-OVER |

Yeah... looking back on their games, the only one they wouldn't have covered this O/U was the second one in utah where the lakers played without pau who was out with an ankle sprain and obviously hurt the chemistry. It looks like these two teams get out and run when they play each other and if a blowout happens, the losing team still gets upwards of 95. Good numbers too. The average totals on their games is way above the number.
alright, I'm onboard with the Over 212 Thinking I might add LAL -2 1Q as well... they really like to jump on the jazz early every time they've beaten them. |

#15 Posted: 5/4/2008 6:44:49 AM I've looked at this line for a few hours and have been a little worried about it.
It'll work if the lakers can blow out utah in the 3rd and then hold on. Looking for big 1st and 3rd qrts from lal.
Utah's road play is why I roll with a -7.5 spread. Plus Kobe in the 4th to say nighty night to Utah.
LAL -7.5

#18 Posted: 5/4/2008 9:29:35 AM Like the home team today. Lakers by double digits. They have been playing great lately and I think the longer rest will help them be ready for this one. |
