There is no friggin way that the Jazz will win 3 straight on the road in one playoff series. Rafer Alston's return has made a significant difference to Rocket's offense. This series goes back to Mormontown. Rockets -chalk

These plays are a whopping 8-2 over the last 10 calls, so I have tallied up all of my losses from yesterday's action and doubled the total for a big play on this game.
Well it's money time, and with 74% of bettors on the Utah side, the line went up to 2 from an opening on most books of Houston-1. That in its'self is a great sign for Houston backers.
According to the PC's informant, the line dropped when a big wiseguy play was made on 4/27/08 between 11:45am and 5:33pm at the Nugget in Las Vegas, causing an temporary increase of the spread to Houston-3 (so the calls could be made) and then a quick drop of the line to Houston -1 for those in the knowwhoreceived the calls followed by a booming spread increase back up to 2 all across the books in Las Vegas by 1:32pm on 4/28/08.
As ar as the game, the Rockets have lost their first two playoff games at home, and do not want a third one with Utah celebrating on their home floor. This game will be all Houston in the 2nd half, as Rafer Alston has made a big improvement on the team with his ability to get into the lane. Bobby Jackson has been given the green light to fire away threes in this game and cut down on his dribble penetration as he is not the most deft of ballhandlers. Practice spies also indicate that Luther Head and Aaron Brooks are to trap the ball and force utah pg Williams to give the ball up on top and force other Utah players to handle the ball, which Coach Adelman feels will lead to more steals. The mantra at practice was to get the ball out of Williams hands, or make him pound the rock a little longer. Boozer will be freed up to make as many points as he can make 1 on 1 with a soft double team coming at him and forcing him back to the middle of the key for jmpers instead of and 1 opportunities. But for the most part, the Rockets intend to stay home on their man.
Chuck hayes was continually berated for having fumble-itis in practice, so it's obvious that if he is not on his game, Adelman will pull him quickly and give minutes to Steve Novak, who is a pure 3 point shooter, who has not logged many minutes yet, but gives the Rockets another offensive weapon to spell the struggling Chuck Hayes.
All in all it's a solid pick no matter how you look at it, especially with all of the early money going Utah's way.
Houston hasn't lost three games in a row at home yet this year. Don't expect that trend to change in this game

Also taking Houston's team total over 92 as well. Utah averages 104.1 points surrendered on the year on the road. At some point in the series this number will show up, and i say the time is now, as Houston has failed to surpass their team total in 3 out of the 4 games. They did surpass it in the game that they won, and since I fully expect for them to win this game, they should surpass their team total as well in this contest.

LOL! You have no entitlement to enlightening. You can't know what I know until you build with the PC Family. But you seem to have a lot of confidence and all with your picks and the hubby said you were worth a shot if you're hot, so look...
CMJ just lost $2200 and some change today (on one shot as a gambler, someone we all should look up to for stepping out there and putting it on the line), and a couple of winners are needed from the thread to help him replinish his bankroll. I'll tell you what, everybody out there in the computer world is fair. And i'm a fair girl, So now Man Up! Can you personally guarantee that CMJ or any other person, for that matter, will make profits off of your plays for 4/30/08? In other words, tell us what you know. And with all of our money riding on your word, why don't you tell us what you know first. Why do you like Utah and New Orleans? Please, if you will, enlighten us to your methods of research for coming to your conclusions.
Help us help one of our own!
Good luck with the New Orleans and Utah picks
CMJ, We are starting a money drive here on covers.com to build up your bankroll again immediately. Duffield550 will let you know in the morning how much to start off with, and he's gonna help get the fund raiser off the ground with some solid picks for 2 days straight.

Take the Hornets minus the chalk and Utah Jazz plus the points.

Man, it's tough to take over when every game in this series has been under 180 except for one. Will the trend continue or are they due for a high scoring game finally? Since this game is in Houston with the crowd behind them, I'm guessing houston will do what they do best which is defending. So, I'm rolling with Lady Style's pick also. GL.

Yeah I was sorry to see CMJ lose his bankroll on Boston, especially since they played so well during certain streches of the game... I lost a healthy sum too on that game and second half...
Going with Houston -2 strong today!!!

hey stylistic, where do you see 74% on utah side as in every book I have seen it's pretty much equal or a few % higher on Utah. I really like Houston as well and I would like to get some of my money back after an 0-4 last night but I'm 0-3 in this series so I don't know if I should bet it.

RAfer will be the difference maker and if stylis is right about novak coming in for hayes who has been dispicabel i can definatyl see houston winning. Also houston is a great home team and the jazz suck they lost the first two in my eyes becasue they didnt have alston and tmac had to carry the load with rafer back and the houston home crowd going wild i gotta go with Houston -2 big and thinking about the over i wanna see these two teams light it up

I liked the way the Rockets played the last game. They were down by 16 in the 3rd Q and by 9 with 2 minutes to go, but came back and lost the game by one lousy rebound off the missed free throw. That showed HEART and DESIRED to win. Also, the Rockets spent most of their monday practice working on changes in the offense as well as free throw shooting (according to the Houston Chronicle today). Rick Alderman believes with a few minor changes in the way the team run the offense (more motion, hard cuts, TMAC on the receiving end of an assist rather than starting the offense with him like the last 4 games), it will pay big dividends. So, I am with the board. HOU -2 and Over.

I think how the Rockets came back from the last game finally turned the light on for Alderman, which is "SPEED KILLS". If you compare the 2 teams, the Jazz have the advantage in size and strength, therefore playing the half court with picks and rolls for TMAC will not cut it. I see the only advantage that the Rockets has is speed. Now that Rafer is running the point, it is possible for the Rockets to out run the Jazz and either shoots open 3s or hard cut to the basket for a layup or foul (how I wished they can shoot better at free throw line). You saw a glimse of that in the 4Q of last game. Let's hope that is what we will see tonite. GL to all on what ever your picked.

I agree w/ most, Best three plays for me today are
HOU -2; DET 1H -5, and NY METS RL-
I think the first two are a wide consensus-However- I really like NY METS tonight-Can you name more than 1 PIT batter who has faced Johann much in their career? And if so, have they had and success? I think NO to both.....
Same was true a couple weeks ago when he faced WASH- 2 runs, scattered a bunch of hits....Mets won by 5.
I think this a similar game as the Mets hitters know they have their ace on the mound and they know they can relax....
Sorry for the MLB post on the NBA thread, just giving CMJ my plays for the day...
