Not sure how the Lakers compete in this one.  Appears that Kobe and Wesley Johnson will have to play 48 minutes each.  Injuries and media BS already hurting the Lakers before the season even starts. Lakers will just not be able to play the entire game at the same level the rockets will because of major depth issues.  New lakers team and system vs a rockets team that has looked very crisp all preseason.  Expect the rockets to once again put up 130 points in the staples center.

Rockets +6.5

Rockets are giving 6.5 Young Up.  I am leaning rockets. IMO it is going to take a bit of time for Kobe to gel in real time situations with this new team.

Pick of the day?

How about Idiot of the day?  Its Houston -6 not +6.  Can you give us a breakdown of how you got this "pick of the day".  Dont be surprise if Lakers cover this game.  Jeremy Lin will spread the ball well for the lakers and get a double double.  The better bet is the over IMHO.

Not necessarily a big Kobe fan, but not necessarily a big fan of his pundits either,  so on a positive more mature note I might add that if Kobe can provide a more pivotal role within this seemingly blue collar organization, there may very well be room for impact.

Harden does not like Kobe, stems from his OKC days.  Harden loves talking trash to Kobe and making him and the Lakers look bad. Howard's history with the Lakers will motivate him to play well. Ariza, who is also a former Laker, will also be motivated to play well. Rockets have a better supporting cast and are playing much better as a team. I'm betting the Rockets will cover the 6.

Houston covered the line in their 3 encounters with the Lakers last season.

just a hunch but with Kobe out to prove something and with Lin being extra motivated against his former team, takin' LA +6

You'd definitely be on Vegas' side. The public is riding the Rockets.

Byron Scott called out Dwight Howard... I think this will be motivation for Dwight to play well and the rest of the team will follow his lead...

I think LA will try to physically punk Houston... Don't know if that will work or not...

Rockets 110

Lakers 100

I love how most of you idiots like to point to what's movating these guys, guess what y'all don't know garbage so stop trying.  Rockets are overrated play no defense and they are your lock of the day.

Jeremy Lin and Kobe will pull off the upset Lakers win straight up don't need no stinking points.

Yes I'm a laker fan but I'm realistic if anything this team will be fighting for 8th in the West but that's not gonna happen this year I think the injury bug hits them (hell its already hit them).  But in this spot after all that was said about the Lakers and Kobe all off season and even more so recently.  Kobe will find a way to win this game and Howard will find a way to choke the game away.  Its only 1 of 82 but bad teams can get some unexpected wins early in the NBA season.

Don't be so quick to hit the over this is not the Lakers from last year and B. Scott actually coaches defense unlike the jackass from last year.

HOU @ LAL +7 O/U 207
Great game because of the off season gossip.

D. Howard gives up $30 million rather than play with that egomaniac Kobe.I guess money does NOT buy happiness if you have to play with K. Bryant.

LAL has to add in a 1st round draft pick in order for HOU to unload J. Lin and his $15M salary. (more that J. Harden will make this yr)

ESPN article says no one wants to sign with Lakers and be Kobe's whipping boy.(Ask Gasol)

S. Nash hurts his back carrying luggage and is out for the season.($9.7 million for zero gms) I think those bags were filled with cash.

Man for man HOU is a better team. Bench for both teams is weak. LAL with no defense and too slow.

B. Scott's Laker coaching debut. Unfortunately, it will be a loss.

Taking HOU -7

You're expecting to kobe go all out tonight in game 1 of 82.  They play 3 games in the next 4 night.

Harden wont even need to play defense tonight.
