The Suns will be short-handed tonight: Shaq is not playing. Raja Bell, Boris Diaw, and Sean Singletary just got traded to the Bobcats.
That leaves Nash, Barbosa, Hill, Stoudemire, and Robin Lopez as there starting line up, with Matt Barnes, Goran Dragic, and Louis Amundson left coming off the bench.

Suns without Shaq (grandma died), B Diaw (8.3/gm), R Bell (9.4/gm) and S Singletary (2.6/gm) due to trade Probably only rostering 8 players Can Louis Amundson, Leandro Barbarosa, Goran Dragic and Robin Lopez keep the Suns close vs the Lakers? (trick question)
Lakers beat Suns in Phx by 13 pts, 20 days ago with their full roster.
Unfortunately, Laker bench has been in a shooting slump and D is like a layup drill for the other team. Opp have scored over 100 pt in 4 out of last 5 games vs Lakers
Problem has been the inability of the Lakers to cover the big spreads. (like last nights loss to Sac?!)
The line keeps climbing as I type. (Up to 14.5 in Sportsbetting)
Can the depleted Suns even score 100+ to get the over at 216?
The only thing that makes these kind of games fun is laying some action, so...
Chickening out on the big spread and... Taking the under

"Bball is about matchups" Suns at Lakers -12

Thanks for that. And the trade news. Just sat down at the computer today.
Hard to know which Laker team is going to show up at this point tonight. You're right dukeycat, that defense has been non-existent, despite all the talk coming from the Lakers about focusing on it. And it seems as though all the intensity they started the season with has taken a natural and probably inevitable downturn.
But . . .
Crazy thing is, the spread might be the safer bet than the over tonight because that is definitely a short-handed Suns team and at some point the Laker bench is going to pop out of that slump. Tonight might be the night with last night's game actually being a good tune-up.
Also there's no way they can play as badly as a team as they did last night. It's always embarrassing when for them when they lose to Sac Town.
It all might add up to a Laker explosion.
One other thing I just noticed. I use a site that let's you bet team totals. The total for the Suns is 101, which is what they've been averaging on the season, pre-trade.
You gotta' like the UNDER there.
