They probably should have lost to the Lions as well. They also once let Chad Henne go absolutely nuts on them about a month ago. The Texans achilles heel is their pass defense (ranking 19th in the league). If JJ Swat isn't batting them down, the odds are that pass is getting completed. I think you can attribute this to Jonathan Joseph being out for such a big chunk of the year. He is listed as questionable, but I'm not sure if he will be a 100% either way.

The Texans are an impressive 6-0 on the road this year. Its so tough to win on the road in this league, especially at New England. The Pats haven't lost at home since that fluke game against Arizona in week 2. I think Belicheck will have his defense ready to stop the Texans offense that relies primarily on the playaction. The playaction is really only effective when a team is running the ball well. I think the Pat's 9th ranked rush defense will come to play in a Monday night setting, and that Houston might find themselves in 3rd and long situations quite a bit on Monday night.

My prediction is the Patriots hand the Texans their first road loss, and that Belicheck tries to send a message like he did to the Colts earlier this year. He definitely likes big statement wins over teams that he will possibly see again in the playoffs. Obviously, I don't think this will be a huge blowout. But it wouldn't shock me if the Pats won this by 13 or more points.

Not too often you can get the Pats -3 at home without the public being all over them!! I will be more than happy to bet New England for my first time this season.

Good luck!
Sammy, When were you ever "more than happy" to lose your money? You stuck your foot in your mouth with the "not too often" statement. What you say is very true. Listen to yourself....why is it happening now? The public is all over Houston I presume because the line has come in from +4.5 to +3.........my belief is that the smart folks grabbed the +4.5. I'm playing Houston and the ML...... BOL

This is a prime time game monday night in which that favors the patriots and brady. The spread should of been -7 but i can see it being 4 with no gronk. Texans betters dont bite the apple, Brady gonna show why the patriots are still the best team in football.\

Patriots -34

texans- 17

For this reason alone........I'm betting the Pats.  Great angle.......I guess Mondays are a preferred day of the week for the Pats? I suppose Houston is due for a letdaown because of it. Please advise  "Brady gonna show why they are still the best team in football"??? Are you sure about that? Do you remember last years Super Bowl? Perhaps the Superbowl they played in when they were the best team in football........ undefeated..........rings a bell. Go ahead and bet the Pats. It will be Monday night and they will be the best.

NO GRONK, NO EDDLEMAN.  VS A SOLID DEFENSE.  HOUSTON IS A CLOCK CONTROL TEAM.  UNDER MIGHT BE THE PLAY HERE.

You should stick to riding the broncos, who are looking awesome by the way. I could tell by how adamantly you are defending the texans that you have some type of emotional attachment to this game. Is it because the texans beat your broncos earlier in the year? That was like week 3 bro. A lot has changed since then. You just made me more convinced that the Pats are the play. Don't get me wrong, if the texans see them again at reliant stadium, I think they might find a way to win. But betting against Brady and Belicheck at Gillette Stadium with such a small number is just not the type of position I would like to put myself in. How many NFL teams have gone 7-0 on the road in a single season? I would like Vue to look that up with his database. Aside from the 1972 Dolphins team, I imagine not too many teams went undefeated on the road in a single season. I think houston is a solid team....but not one of the great teams of our generation. i think most people would agree with me on that.  the texans might find a way to win, but either way, its a pretty stupid bet.  no offense bro.
And my foot is not in my mouth. I think you're betting on a long shot buddy. Good luck.

didn't mean to be so defensive, but the last nfl team to go undefeated on the road were the 07 patriots. prior to them, the last team to go undefeated on the road were the 1984 49ers led by joe montana. a lot of good football teams eventually lose their 1st road game.

the texans are a really solid team, but i think new england could expose their 19th ranked pass defense and give the texans their first road loss.

maybe im fade material. and good luck best_bets. didn't mean to call your bet stupid. i just think the law of averages says the texans are due to drop a road game, and who better to hand them the loss, then the 9-3 patriots who haven't lost at home since week 2.

Just started considering this game and it's NE all the way... They should kick the Texans behind in this game...
Houston has been doing just enough lately (Vs. Jax ) to get by and are overdue for an egg

Houston is a foolish bet here IMHO...

It is my opinion that the Texans are the most under rated team in football. They have proven to be winners week in and week out.....they have found a way to win. Their D is better than that of New Englands in my opinion. Shaub has similar numbers to Brady. If there was ever a time for a New England loss at home this is it. Gronk is out. If I am betting on a long shot.....I'll take my chances because in 12 tries my horse (the Texans) has won 11 times............and I'm a long shot?

Correcto-mundo Ace. Interestingly enough the G-Men went 7-1 on the road that year to secure the WildCard berth, and then went on to win all their Playoff games on the road to finally defeat the Pats at the Big Dance.

Hell, the Gints had to win those games on the road because at home they were a pathetic 3-5 ... pfftt!

(Colts & Cowpokes were also 7-1 on the road that year)

Pats by a FG, per usual.

Yes, but that Giant team didn't go undefeated on the road. Neither did the 15-1 Packers team from last year. There's only 3 teams in NFL history that went undefeated on the road (in the regular season) to my understanding. The 72 dolphins, 84 49ers, and 07 patriots. Obviously, the texans could win this one and lose at Indy in week 17. I'm just speculating that their first loss will come to the pats, who haven't lost at home since week 2. Good luck!

Everyone say what you want, but this is nighttime, in December, 40 degrees and rainy, in Foxborough, a southern cushy weather team, against the hoodie, and against "Tommy Terrific", Houston's already in - and probably have the first round bye wrapped up too.....

I'm just seeing a cold weather beatdown for some reason.

Pats -4, and I don't even think twice about it

Best bets must have an emotional tie to Houston. All this talk about Houston being great. Wasn't the 49ers so dam great last year winning and covering like 9 weeks in a row?  Houston did win a lot but did they also cover a lot?

Sorry back on topic. Both teams has won 6 straight.
Texans are 4-2 ATS with losses from Det and jax (odd)
Patriots are 3-3 ATS with losses from Miami, buffalo, and jets

They last met at Houston in 2010 and texans were favored by -7
Flash forward 2012.  Houston still has the same QB, same Main RB and WR.  Patriots has the same QB and that's about it.  RB are different and WR group changed.  NE will play vs a familiar match up while Houston will play vs a group not too familiar.
As of today this looks like a classic offense vs defense.  You can win games with a great offense but you win championships with defense.

Patriots will have a gameplan for Houston. They will strike early and Houston will try to catch back up but come short.  Houston will learn a lot with a loss here.  Houston doesn't do well versus great passing QB.  Look at games at GB and Detroit (maybe chad henne too?) and a rusty Peyton manning.  Why in these games the QB did so well?  Now it's Tom Brady at home with a small chalk. Nothing is 100% in betting but you can always play the trends.

First time I'll be hedging a bet ever. Have a 6 team parlary with HOU +3.5 finishing it off.

However, I really think I took the wrong side here.

I'm either going to be greedy and hope for luck on NE- ML @ 1.50 odds and hope for 1-3 pt win to win both bets.  Or have to buy down the spread to -3.5 @1.83 odds. ahhhhh sh.hit.

Either way I'm kicking myself.  Will rack my brain at work to make sense of what I should do.
