I don't know how you can put faith in the Saints defense to hold any team to 24 points. Neither team is very good & the Saints got clobbered by the Broncos last week. The over is all I will play |

#10 Posted: 11/3/2012 8:14:12 AM I really don't see how the saints cover. They were blown out the previous week only then to be 3 point faves. Furthermore the loss of sproles will undoubtedly work against them. Eagles begin their run this week in the big easy! Vick is good in the dome + Andy will take pressure off his qb with 20+ carries by McCoy against the saints weak rushing d. Eagles play only 1 team with a winning record the rest of the way through (Giants), and they've won 8 of 9 against ny |

#11 Posted: 11/3/2012 6:58:24 PM The eagles are like the lakers of the NFL. you take them when they are catching value and there is finally no good reason to believe they haven't mailed it in.
that said, i like the players only meeting thing (vick called). i like the idea of vick getting back to being agressive against the worst defense in the league. and i like that this is todd bowles second game as d-cord, still believe in him as he is a bright mind and used to QB the defense from the field as a DB.
philly is 7-2 ATS last 9 vs the saints and while i'm sure sammy would get on me for taking that back so far, i have a lot of success riding those ATS trends (see dallas vs carolina, titans vs bills, jags vs raiders, skins vs. saints to name a few). Philly is another team that is probably a lot better than their record indicates and while both teams are off beatdowns, the eagles are the only team between these two that has a good enough team/situation to actually contend for a playoff spot this year. I also hate that the saints have another new coach in his second week after spending the first 5 weeks getting used to a different new coach. That's too much variance to get behind.
Sproles being out for the saints is also huge as he is too valuable in short yardage, goalline situations and their best weapon in terms of versatility and reliability and his absence will make the short and intermediate yardage plays a lot harder to succeed on. Philly also has a very decent secondary which should match well against a team that passes to set up the pass and occassionally, when they're not passing, they pass.
While philly probably does the same thing, they have one of the best backs in the game and against a piss poor run D, they will likely be smart enough to run mccoy like hell to shorten the game and keep pressure off vick.
Before last weekend's games, vegas actually had this line at Philly +1.5 (i know because in a drunken moment of not so clarity last sunday, i bet it, forcing myself to find a creative hedge when i pounded the 3.5 that came out later).
anyways, having untangled myself and barring an awful loss, provided myself with a small window for a double win, the bottom line here is that I pounded this one and figured the rest out later...
PHILLY +3.5 large
and i would highly recommend trading for eagles in your fantasy leagues. their stock is very low right now and this is a prime breakout game situation here.

#13 Posted: 11/4/2012 8:44:11 AM I dont care how much offense a team may have, u gotta have the D also to win games and,NEW ORLEANS has none. Vick should have no issues passing the ball at will as long as he doesnt make bad decisions. easier said than done i guess, lol!!
Still taking the Eagles to at leest cover here.

#14 Posted: 11/4/2012 4:55:46 PM I must be some kind of a sadist, because I like the Eagles again this week. Saints giving +3.5? Seems like this game should be a pick 'em at best.
Anyways, Vick should have all kinds of time to do his running around and not having to pick himself up off the turf every play. He should have a monster game, because I think if he doesn't against the absolute worst defense in the NFL, it's going to be the Nick Foles show, and Reid is gone at the end of this "rebuilding" season. A win here at least guarantees them both another week of employment.....
Also, over 51.5 in the dome in primetime doesn't seem too crazy to me either..... |

#16 Posted: 11/4/2012 8:27:54 PM Huge Saints fan.. Cost me almost 9K in their game last week.. We have no defense whatsoever and are missing our biggest running/receiving weapon in Sproles.. But as long as we have Brees, we always have a chance.. Philly has a much better defense, but they have a turnover machine in Vick.. With Reid and Vick both playing for their jobs, I gotta give the emotional edge to them as well..
The gambler in me says the line is 3.5 for a reason, wanting Philly money, although it dropped almost easily.. I usually don't back teams w/ no defense, so I'm most likely gonna play just the over..
This game comes down to Saints D vs Michael Vick.. If he turns it over, Saints win easily.. If they don't it could be a close game |

#21 Posted: 11/5/2012 12:48:59 AM The Saints offense will not be as pour as it was last week. Philly's offense has so much to prove this week that them not putting up at least 21 against this Saints defense seems highly unlikely.

Agreed… Everybody is waiting on Vick to come up with a performance like he did on Monday night a couple of years ago against the Redskins, but the bottom-line here Ladies and Gentlemen is the Eagles organization has major issues on both sides of the ball… The stupidest thing Andy Reid ever did was to name an offensive line coach the defensive coordinator… Between that and #7 on the friends and family plan (shaving points – guarantee all that debt he had after the bankruptcy has been satisfied by now), the Eagles as we know them are finished.
With that said, put me down for Drew Brees in his playpen minus just south of a field goal for a Nickel Alex Trebek please. Thanks!
