#78 Posted: 1/21/2012 4:38:45 PM I'm liking the New York Giants to beat New England Patriots in the Superbowl. Giants defense wins out.

Were the ones who should be nervous ss If the Ravens play like they did against the Texans it will be lights out for the Colonel. I'm hoping for a better performance from Flacco.

Couldn't agree more with the Colonel on this thread. Flacco has to step it up, plus the off. coordinator has to come with a more aggressive game plan, or else the Ravens are history. I did say I felt (in my post) that Baltimore will likely cover. However, I feel the game will be very close and I actually feel NE has a legitimate chance to win SU. However, the line is inflated, and I'm siding with Baltimore on the spread. |

#83 Posted: 1/21/2012 9:19:35 PM A couple interesting facts...
I think prior to last weeks game vs houston, like 36 of their 48 of Ravens's sacks (give or take) were at home.
Ed reed is really banged up.
NE OLine has allowed some ridiculously low number of sacks the last 4-5 games, vs all year. They are all healthy now, and are built to protect Brady.
The officiating crew calling this game has called the FEWEST holding penalty plays then any other crew the entire season. Also, as a whole, the officials have really been letting the playoff teams "play" and not throwing many flags unless its a blatent fowl or clear unnecessary roughness...ALSO>>>this same crew leads all other officiating crews on pentalties called related to roughing the passer, late hits to QB, Helmet to helmet, etc.
NE (but still cant decide if they cover, i am leaning yes.)

however. in the National Fixed League i think this is going to come down to a rematch of the coaching brothers Harbaughs. the rematch in the superbowl. the NFL will love this publicity.
i could be totally wrong as i was abt the steelers beating denver. but im just saying im taking any points ravens get and taking SF + or - points.
so even though pats should roll im leary abt the NFL.
good luck all
I agree with you 100%....but i hope your wrong. a rematch between SF and Balt would be such a boring superbowl!!!!! |

anybody?
1, last week, vs. the Broncos and Tim Tebow...... and that's giving Tom and Bill a bye week to prep
Ravens are the hardest competition the Patriots have face this year.....
Ravens beat the Steelers twice and Pats lost to the Steelers.....
NE defense will be exposed with the Ravens run game.... Flacco will play well enough to win the game....
Texans defense is very very underrated and if Ray Lewis and Ed Reed don't drop those 2 interceptions that game wouldn't have been close last week.....
Baltimore Moneyline....
This defense has a great feel for the Patriot Offense.....
Good Luck To ALL!
Very good point BreakaBookie. "Quality Wins (wins against teams with a winning record) is very often overlooked by cappers looking for serious reasons, rather than superficial ones for backing a team. I might also add that NFL teams both conferences with a better points allowed per game in the regular season (since 1970) has been covering in both the AFC & NFC Championship games at 71.9% (46-18-2)

#88 Posted: 1/22/2012 1:31:11 AM Remember the Ravens on the road this year goes something like this:
Lost by 13 to the Titans Lost by 5 to the Seahawks Lost by 20 to the Chargers Lost by 5 to the Jaguars

#89 Posted: 1/22/2012 3:19:45 AM ne -7.5 bal are not playing well. bal cannot turn it on and off when they want. bal def looked slow. bal cannot all of sudden become fast. qb flacco looked rattled and slow. qb flacco cannot all of sudden become poised and fast. it takes more than a week to make the necessary adjustments. bal on a short week. |

#90 Posted: 1/22/2012 5:07:29 AM Season Stat hunters beware...
For championship games , No matter what sport , hottest team holds an unwritten advantage, where confidence , up swing factors and injuries neutralizes past season stats and percentages.
Happens all the time. . .
*Frisco n' Balty have formidable Defenses but Giants n' Pats appear to be at their healthiest , peaking at the right place and time.
*Frisco's " soft white underbelly" secondary was exposed last week by NO
6 days may be too little too late for adjustments.

#93 Posted: 1/22/2012 10:38:29 AM These two teams have only gone over 50 once since '96 and the total in that game was 51. These are two teams that aren't going to mess around. I see either a grind it out close game with Baltimore pounding the rock and eating up clock or the patriots getting on the board quickly and Baltimore having to get into catch up mode right away, either way I think the defenses step up, the game plans stay simple, and Patriots win - 27-17

#94 Posted: 1/22/2012 10:51:08 AM Tough to pick a side on this one. Compelling arguments for both teams. The Ravens have definatly played a tougher schedule, fared better against playoff teams and have the better defense. Flacco is a bit of a wildcard, his play will be a major factor. One poster pointed out that the Ravens won a Superbowl with Trent Dilfer as the QB. That defense was much more dominate than this years version. Ray Lewis was 11 years younger, Defensive MVP for the season and the Superbowl. On the other hand how could you ever be comfortable going against Belichick and Brady when the stakes are this high. Only a few head coach- QB combinations have ever been so successfull in the big games ( Lombardi - Star, Walsh - Montana, Knoll - Bradshaw, Johnson - Aikeman ). The weather conditions will be perfect for January in New England and I believe there will be plenty of scoring. The cliche is defense wins championships but Baltimore's defense while better than the Pats is a far cry from the dominating defenses of old( such as the Ravens D of 2000 ) I believe NE wins the day but hard for me to say if it's by 3 or 14. The trend all year has been over in the NFL and today points a plenty. Over 50 GLTA! |

I agree and the difference in that game was turners by NO. NE will not give the ball away to the Ravens like Houston did last week. They are not facing a rookie QB in his second playoff game this week. |

#100 Posted: 1/22/2012 12:08:41 PM Pats had a cuupcake schedule this year. The only quality teams they played, Pitt and the Giants, both resulted in losses. And they drew a pathetic Denver who shouldn't of even been in the playoffs. . .see Miami and Chicago game.
Baltimore will be their third quality team, that they face, all three having a solid defense in common.
Meanwhile, Baltimore's schedule alot tougher facing Pitt twice, Cincy twice, Houston twice, and SF,
Balitmore gets no respect with this line. . .I'll take the points.
