Wazzu's 4th rated passing O vs. CSU's 111th rated passing D should prove to be the difference in this game.  Wazzu for me.  Good luck.

Me thinks mighty mo has a great point....why doesn't the 'matchup" state where University Stadium is for weather concerns.

That is what I am seeing too Mo, I am taking the passing attack of the Pirate to cover the four points against an average CSU team.

WSU  -4     4 unit play

Highest Confidence Pick of the Opening Bowl Day for me

Bibbs is an excellent running back he will open some hole up for the QB to work with it will be a close one but I'll take col st. Just to cover that 4.5

Wash St and CSU have good passing attacks and both have a couple of the worst pass defense's. The difference here will be CSU's running game which Wash St doesn't have. Wash St rushes for just 58 yds a game, while CSU runs for 202 a game and Wash St also has a poor run defense. Spread at my sportsbook jumped to 5, which I grabbed, then went back to 4.5. SO CSU +5 and over

These two teams look similar on paper, but the level of competition they played is very different. CSU gave up 41 points to Colorado, and 42 each to UTEP and New Mexico. When WSU was giving up lots of points, it was to bowl teams like ASU, Oregon, etc..

Washington State -5

Would Colorado State be in a bowl game if they played in the PAC 12?

On paper CSU looks good (just like Hawaii with Colt Brennen when they played Georgia In the Sugar Bowl).

Taking WSU

waiting on Rams getting to 6 or higher...

Gotta love them.    They just played in this stadium a month ago and played WELL.

Like the OVER (66) even better though.  Neither team can defend against the pass, and the Rams are like good sorority sister - scores both ways.      we all know Leach is gonna let Halliday air it out as much as possible, so I see points coming early AND late.

BMILEHIGH is right, its about physicality strength of opposition, the one D CO played all year they were shut out, wasu had toughest schedule in college this yr (usa today) at start of year, the D really came on last 3rd of season, first bowl game in 10 yrs, leach is nuts and will have guys ready, pac 10 is far superior to MCW, wasu will crush by 13-14 or more in my opinion, this is a matchup where ya don't put much weight in many season stats, the stats do make them look similar but that's not the case at all

WASU BIG

I got e Rams at plus 6. With the long layoff I think it's an advantage to Colorado St.  You can do a lot of thigs to get better on a long break like shore up your defense (in particular the secondary) which is Colorado states problem, but one thing your not going to do is all of the sudden create a running attack which is wazoo problem.

This game is GOING WAY OVER the TOTAL....play alternate plus money totals...see little defense being played in initial bowl game of season

thank me after  visiting the proverbial bank

also like CSU's running game keeeping it under the number

Yes, because evil spirits determine the outcomes of these games.  Of course CSU could win, this isn't a slam dunk for either team but WSU's passing against a horrible pass defense is the play.  But it is a bowl, sometimes teams don't show up.  My bet is The Pirate will have his offense prepared.  Best bet of the opening day  WSU giving the points.  Medium to high confidence pick for me.  GL all, let's start this bowl season off with a win.
