Beware here as this is a good matchup game for Ball St. and is for first place in their division. NIU and Lynch are a really good team, but I'm taking the points here. I see this as a very tight, down to the wire, game with Ball St. winning outright and not as high scoring as some think. There will be tough going in the red zone for both teams, resulting in more FG's than TD's. I've been betting football for 55 years and seen so many games, just like this one, where both teams play a bit more conservative and tighter than normal. Strictly my opinion, good luck to all.  THE Myth

Nice write up, I agree with you... This is like the Houston and central Florida game last week to me. High power offense in a defensive game

I agreed. This NIU team is NOT Baylor team nor ORE DUCK team. NIU is running the ball most of the time and BALL ST Def is not bad, there won't be a flying ball tonight...

N Illinois ranks 115 in passing defense at home...don't kid yourself, points WILL be scored...but I also agree that down the stretch, the tempo should slow down..Ball St and under for me

A lot of talk about the wind in tonight's game.... However it's slightly irrelevant considering the type of passing attack Ball State is equipped with; short passes relying on YAC from their receivers.

NIU has a very weak passing defense and could find themselves in a hole early. That's not to say Lynch isn't capable of making plays, but Ball State has a much tougher defense....

I understand NIU is nationally ranked but I feel that too much is being placed on them due to their recent success and national coverage over the last few years (Lynch in the Heisman race, Florida State in the bowl game).

This game is much closer than 7.5. I'll wait and take Ball State with more than 8 by game time. Leaning over and BS ML as well...

my spread just shot up to -9.5.  if this keeps up, i might see taking Ball State having serious value.

They are now predicting a wind from the SSW of 15MPH during game time. I have a buddy who is going to partying right outside the stadium and I'm going to attempt to call him and get the lowdown an hour before kick off and report back here. We do not trust the weather reports here in Chicagoland (Dekalb is 60 miles away) I would not trust what some internet weather report says 8 hours before game time. But it could be the reason for the line jump.

over under isn't moving, so I don't think this line move is because of the weather. lots of sharp betters pound the home team on weekdays. lots of square betters pound the weekday games late cuz they are stupid action junkies like I was yesterday. so who knows. I hope I can give you a drunk guy at the game weather report before kick off.

BOL  all. Grab the 9!  This is going to be a good game. I see NIU going in last quarter for a win that doesn't cover.

Hopefully I can wait it to till it becomes 10

Everone is nuts about the over because these two teams roll up 30... 40... 50 points a game.  But against some bad teams.  My experience says that when two good teams play, scores tend to tighten up.    Give me...

Wind won't be a factor tonight. Weather station in Dekalb says there is little to no wind at 4:20. All I'm going to get from the drunk guy at the game is HUSKIES! WOOOOOOO GIMME ANNUDDER.
