L8 years NC State is 6-1-0 ATS when facing FSU. However, after examining the stats, I have to break from the trend this year. Overwhelmingly:

FLORIDA STATE    -  29.5

Let's all not get carried away with Florida St's "BIG" victory.  Clemson being number 3 was a joke in itself. Just like Ohio St being number four. Come on really.  I'm tired of polls basing rankings on previous years or a programs storied background.  Hence Notre Dame last year. In saying all that FSU has the ability to cover but 29- to 30 is a lot after a "big" win.  Be careful of the back door cover here.  I'd hate to see FSU look ahead to scary Miami or a even scarier Virginia Tech.  What a rigorous gauntlet of a schedule!!!

Florida st - 29.5 even though they just came off a big game with Clemson.... FSU will carry that momentum into this game and put up high numbers...

Please stop with the "Big" game/victory!!! Winston is a very good QB but my gosh we act like Clemson was 2011-2012 Alabama. Quit over reacting!!

Sitting here w/ a HUGE smile  on my face , for all those FOOLS I told, that Clemson was a overrated joke & FSU was going to smack that Tiger A**zzzz!! Watch Clemson fans how a REAL TOP 5 team handles a crap hole team like NC STATE ( who Clemson had to struggle w/ 3 weeks ago & barely beat by 12... Also, if a bad call was corrected, Clemson may have ended up losing )!!!!!

FSU  (-30)   58 - 16

State gets its starting qb back, Brandon Mitchell, for the first time since the third series of game 1.  I've been waiting for this comeback.  Wolfpack offense should look completely different.  I wagered on Sunday nite at 28.5.  Kickin myself as now it is at +32.  ML has spiked from +3200 to +5000.

Early lean NC St.  Not taking away from FSU but Clem does what they do every year under Dabo.  Lines getting inflated, been said above  let down spot, look ahead, NC St. fields a good def. a better team than thier record.

Bhatchett... Fsu could have played a 3rd ranked South Dakota State A&M Tech University and it still would have been a big game cause of the ranking. Everyone is well aware that Clemson was overrated, I too was on fsu, but anytime you go on the rd against a 3rd ranked team, especially to a conference rival, it is going to be a big game to the players. Ur an idiot to say the opposite.

I wouldn't say idiot...that's a bit much.  All I'm saying is the preseason polls aren't very accurate.  You can't base everything on the preseason or a teams storied history.  Not saying Clemson has a lot of tradition.  I'm not taking anything at all away from Florida St. I just don't like everyone acting like they're the greatest team of all time because they beat a very overrated Clemson team.  How soon we forget about FSU struggling against the powerhouse in Boston College. Oregon should be number 2 until the lose. He'll I'm not too sure Alabama is number one. Their biggest win was at A&m and they're not a juggernaut. I hope it plays itself out and we see the two best teams play.

i'm thinkin Ohio St.

You have to respect bad spots sandwich games, I'm looking for overeaction to push this line higher, its back to low profile, nasty conference play.

I think it is fair to say FSU is damned impressive so far, maybe not the best, but look to be Top 5 for sure.  Also fair to say that Clemson wasn't top 5, so yes they were overrated some, but you have to tip your hat to the Noles for blowing away the Tigers on the road in that atmosphere.  Winston is a great FR QB by any measure.  By the time they play Miami, Florida, and Va Tech they will have earned their way to the BCS game by winning them all.

NC State isn't that talented but laying 29' after the emotion of last week will be hard for FSU.  They do have revenge for last year's upset in Raleigh, and Bobby Bowden is back at Doak Campbell for the first time since he left FSU so things will be pumped...not to mention they are rated #2 and know they have to impress voters.  It might be close but I am getting the feeling Winston will just show up and have fun pitching the ball around to his receivers.  That might be enough and the kid just seems to not feel any pressure.  Small bet on FSU.  The money game is next week as I think they lay the wood to Maimi.

i just look at things from a betting perspective on these forums. FSU is going to see that Clemson victory as a big win. Clemson was overrated, but that was still a very big win that will have FSU justifiably flying sky high. There are multiple reasons why this could be a letdown spot for FSU. Since FSU lost to NC State last year there is always that chance that FSU will come into this game ready to punish the wolfpack though. For that reason I will be staying away.

Source for this comment?  I have never seen Winston be anything but gracious and classy.  Considering the amount of publicity and media attention he seems remarkably poised and without major ego issues.  I don't see the basis for this attack at all and I follow a lot of blogs and sports talk shows.  If I were an FSU fan I would be very excited about having him around for a while.  Makes good decisions, strong arm, and very accurate for a player of limited experience.

Ok...let's please jump off the FSU is the best team in the country.  They looked very impressive in a win against Clemson.  We all agree they were very overrated. Someone said if FSU beats Miami they deserve to be in the national championship.  This is the same Miami that trailed for four quarters to UNC.  Morris was throwing int after int.  So you can honestly tell me they're a top ten team?!! Just by eye test.  Yea they beat florida but my gosh fla does well to score 20 points the entire game.  Let's move on to Vt since someone said if they beat them that would be impressive. This is the same VT team that squeaked by Pitt UNC Marshall and east Carolina. Yes....say those teams to yourself without laughing.  Now if Oregon beats UCLA and not necessarily convincingly they deserve their #2 ranking back.  We all agree UCLA would hammer UNC Pitt Marshall and ecu.  FSU's schedule is awful although it's not their fault. Bama and Oregon are the two best teams period. FSU is definitely 3rd and then there's everybody else.  Baylor is 4th....let me add.

Hopefully FSU remembers losing to NCST by one last year and take some revenge. Coach FSU should remind them NCST is looking to kick their behind in a letdown situation...
