Both teams off a bye and Wake/BC on deck respectively.  No reason for the Canes to look past this game.

UNC cant stop the run, which will easily open the passing game up for Morris.

Ill take the 8pack box of chalk

This is going to be a great game. I live in the nc and I am sure the state will be riled up for their home team, BUT stats do show Miami pass defense is pure stout.

Tar Heels had a decent pass catching tight end in Ebron and also the Receiver Davis who's a down field threat. Not much can say about their running game.

Miami has a decent qb who has 9tds and 4 int. hmmmm

Themyth is right, both teams have never scored over 64 in the past 10 years total.

As a fellow carolinian, I would love to see a high scoring game but I think Miami will come down 4th quarter with. 2 td lead to seal the victory.

No official bet yet, still looking for an edge.

Any other thought guys?

Nice comments guys.... I watched unc play and I was very disappointed. I watched Miami play a few times and I think the talent level is one sided for the canes. I like the idea of -7 but only throwing a unit  on it. Canes -8 and hope for the defense to hold for the cover

You think the state of North Carolina is going to get riled up over this for the "home team"?  You do realize this isn't basketball right?

UNC has been a real disappointment so far and Miami is getting a lot more love than expected.  Not sure if this translates into laying eight points on the road but slight lean to the Canes here because their offense can get hot.  Small play on Miami -8 for me.

The fact that UNC gave up 55 pts to East Carolina in their own home field is very disturbing if you are a UNC backer.  Miami has a more potent offense than East Caroline, so imagine what Miami can do to UNC?  Miami is much more superior than UNC on both sides of the ball. If Miami play their game, they should cover easily. If they commit stupid penalties or turn the ball over, then it might be a different story.

North Carolina can’t stop anybody…  This line should be at least 14 points...  Would Stephen Morris keep this game within the chalk for a Vegas win…  I’ll sit on my hands in this one…

Miami by double digits. All the numbers point in that direction.

A couple of keys come to mind when looking at this match up:
  • Va. Tech (-8), Georgia Tech (-6.5) and South Carolina (-11) all covered their spreads against North Carolina and Miami has a better and/or more balanced attack than either of those three teams.
  • Miami is averaging 7.76 yards per play and nearly 500 yards total offense per game.
  • North Carolina is giving up an average of 37.5 points per game at home to the likes of Middle Tennessee and ECU.
In the games that i've watched North Carolina this year (@SC and @ Va. Tech) I've noticed that their defensive line gets pushed around quite a bit...damn near bullied to be honest.

The one stat that works in Carolina's favor is Red Zone percentage, 92.86% to Miami's 75.86% (I was shocked to see Miami fails on 1 in 4 trips to the Red Zone this year).

Carolina is unveiling brand new all black uniforms in a "Black Out" at Keenan Memorial Stadium. Now, I don't have official records but from my memory when teams unveil these all black uniforms and have these supposed "Black Outs" the record (from my memory mind you) is usually a loss. Furthermore, it is my opinion that unveiling these uni's on Miami of all schools is a HUGE mistake. Miami will take this a sign of disrespect and those boys from Dade will look to embarrass the Tar Heels in their brand new digs!

Next valid point, this is the biggest weekend for the ACC in a long time with the 3 v. 5 Clemson-FSU game. Miami will feel the need to come out and establish themselves as just as good a team as either Tigers or Noles. So, having a poor outing at UNC is not highly recommended.

Duke Johnson will have his normal 100 + yard rushing game and Stephen Morris will have a decent two touchdown outing and limit the turnovers. Some underclassmen will get to play late in the 4th quarter.

I'm taking Miami -8.5 to win by at least 17.

Only impressive win Miami gotten is the win against Georgia Tech and that's at home!  This is there second game on the road this year to a UNC team that has play some pretty tough opponents!  If the line keeps moving up then I'll take my chances with the home dog on Thursday night!

Let us not forget a 21-16 win at home against a very tough Florida team. I don't think Carolina can be compared to Georgia Tech or Florida right about now! Food for thought
