Can't decide if Pitt will play better without The Stache or not.  Either way, a SEC team getting points in a bowl game is worth a play.  Kentucky for me.  Good luck.

Kentucky's Hartline is out for their bowl game now. Was going to be a huge play on UK but not anymore.

Even without Hartline I like Kentucky.  I am that unimpressed with Pitt.  This is more a pick against Pitt than it is on Kentucky.  Good luck.

There should not be much change for UK with the loss of Hartline other than they are trying harder and it will be a Cobb Show with a little Morgan Newton thrown in there for good measure.  Even though Pitt has little offense, the UK defense will make it look good so the play again is the OVER of 52.5 for me with a money line play on UK.  Practice after Hartline's dismissal was very good and supposedly the coaching staff will not be limiting Newton's abilities as they did last year when he went 5-3 as the starter when Hartline was out with an injury.  They now will have a couple more practices before getting Christmas Week off to be with family, then resume preparations the Monday after Christmas.

Will update as I hear more from the Nutter Field House.

I agree with chas. To repeat....Kentucky backup has experience....  this from last year....Hartline suffered a season ending injury in the fifth game of the year, a loss at South Carolina that left Kentucky 2-3 on the season.[3] Newton then became the starter and led Kentucky to a 5-2 record in its final seven regular season games, which enabled Kentucky to play in the 2009 Music City Bowl.[4] In only a half season of play, Newton completed his true freshman season completing 75 of 135 passes (55.6%) for 706 yards and 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, good for a 109.71 quarterback rating. Does this sound like a guy who cant play????? Plus they have a good rb and Randall Tex Cobb at WR. Pitt lost their stache. Kentucky for the large!

UK has now shipped out for Birmingham.  The practices in LEX were good for the most part.  Word is that the defense has done much better in preparation for the game.  The way that translates to me is that the offense hasn't done very well!  I fear that the OC will handcuff Newton to some degree just as they did last year when he was the starter for over half the season. Mossakowski is planned to get some reps early in the game as well.  I don't know how much of a distraction all the coach nonsense is at Pitt, but these UK guys seem to be ready to play.  This is going to be a light play for me at UK ML +150 and the UNDER.

UK 24     Pitt 16

Good luck to all!!!

Good point. When a coach leaves because he got a huge pay raise it doesn't mess with the minds of the players too much, anybody can understand that. But when the coach is popular with the players and gets fired, and all this other soap opera stuff follows, I would guess Pitt comes out and plays half heartedly.

I'm going to follow up my own comment because I left information out. The stache never should never have been promoted above being a defensive coordinator. As a Chicago Bears fan this guy gave me years of anguish, he is simply terrible as a football tactician, but his team always played hard for him, he can motivate. I don't think it was wrong to fire The Stache but to do it before the season was over was dumb.

Seems too easy to bet against Pitt... but I did it for one unit.  Wanted to get it while it was at +3.5.  Only problem is it seems everyone is on the same side.

Pitt may announce a new coach soon, which could create a moment of optimism, especially if they choose Tom Bradley.

My initial thought was Pittsburg laying the field goal WITH the Wildcats starting QB playing, however since the “Stache” is gone now and their NEW coach is gone, I am going to have to follow YOU here.  In fact, I remember YOU telling me NOT to fool with "them" Gamecocks laying points to the Cats after that Alabama win and I didn’t listen.  I won’t be hard headed twice!

Put me down for “them” boys over in Fayette County Kentucky plus the chalk (3.5) please.  Thanks!

right now 57% of bets are on UK

43% on Pitt

thats not a big margin. Pitt opened at -2.5 and people may have jumped on them before the hiring / firing mess

I like UK

Wow, everybody is on the Wildcats?!?!?! I expected to come into this thread and be ready for a throwdown, but this is a refreshing change of pace!!!! Usually that's a bad sign, but I don't think so this time.

No need for me to prove my angle then, good luck everybody.

Oh good, I was making the mistake of taking the mood in this thread to be the same as the public at large.  UK for me, probably will add a moneyline bet as well.  Good ML opp here.

Meanwhile, line has moved from Ken +3.5 to +4...

I've seen a little of both teams and...
Pitt's QB no good.
RB is good.
Pass Def - not so good
Run Def - average

Kentucky isn't bad.
QB is Mediocre
RB is good.
Run Def - no good
Pass Def - no good(they got hammered by the pass against the volunteers.)

UK should be the play.
