Wouldn't say bama doesn't have anything to play for here. But that said they are coming off a tough road loss with a big emotional letdown considering that loss to LSU just cost them a shot at the SEC and BCS title race.
Although not mathematically out of the SEC west race, they are pretty much done and will be relegated to playing the potential spoiler role when Auburn visits in 3 weeks.
MSU plays the same physical ball control type of football Alabama does. Under might be worth a look here.

I wouldn't say Bama is even a longshot to still be in SEC West race. Neither Georgia beating Auburn nor Arkansas taking LSU is all that far-fetched. Would most likely leave the 3 teams in a tie-breaker situation if Bama won out. And still at #11, I'd ssume they could all be very close in rankings if all that played out. I'd say they'll still be focused for this game.
That being said, I had no idea Miss St. has played this well this year. Out of all the major teams it's just one team I never studied or played a game with. Where in the hell did they come from? Looks like they've been very consistent almost every week in playing tough and close. I'd be very careful with a 2 TD line in this game...Miss St. seems scrappy and undaunted by whomever they face. Only game they havn't won or lost by over 3 points was LSU. And the stats in that game were almost identical for each team except for the 5 INT's the Bulldogs threw away. Without a few of those woulda been much closer. Bama doesn't rush the passer well so i wouldn't expect a repeat performance of that. Lost to Auburn by 3, and beat Georgia and Florida. This team looks for real...where the hell have I been? lol
And Bama just isn't tearing people up this year like the past. Close games with Arky and Ole Miss (somewhat), and losses to S. Car. and LSU...tells me the domination factor is not the same by any means as last year. Just sold myself on a small play on the Bulldogs.

Can't help but think of this game as a 23-14 or 24-17 game... Mississippi State and the Under... Did you'll happen to see the ticket stub for this game... some "dumby" spelled it "Mississipi" on the ticket... lol Only in Mississippi! SHARP

yeah, that was actually brought up during preseason, and Bama PR issued an apology but exlained that they couldnt change the tix bc like 95,000 (or whatever) were already printed.
I had completely forgot about that until you just brought it up bc the thing is Bama just shrugged it off like it was no big deal.
