#3 Posted: 9/14/2009 10:25:31 AM Personally I think Ga. should be favored around -3 in this game and that is only because of travel and against SEC competion. It will be a close game but Ga. pulls out another victory. |

#4 Posted: 9/14/2009 2:13:03 PM Mallett and Petrino put up over 300 yds. passing on UGA and roll by at least two tds. Not impressed at all with UGA's offense. |

#5 Posted: 9/14/2009 2:58:58 PM I haven't seen a total yet, but if it's anywhere under 50 or at 50 i am going OVER. Hogs have a much refined offense with a very healthy Ryan Mallett. Lots of offensive weapons for the Hogs. Their defense is very suspect so i think that GA will have not much of a problem scoring. Should be a high scoring affair with some early predicted nice weather in NW Arkansas for this one.
Hogs win a close one...41 - 38 |

#6 Posted: 9/14/2009 5:16:50 PM Hope you all listened to my "over" call last week on the UGA/south carolina game.
Here's my key stat for this game:
Mark Richt is 31-5 at UGA when playing teams that have not won an SEC title since the league went to 12 teams. Of those 5 losses, only one came away from Athens, (2006 at Kentucky). I said last week that the UGA offense would improve...they did for the most part. This week UGA finally wins the turnover battle, (they were - 3 vs Okie State, and - 2 vs the Cocks) and the game. This time around it will be the defense that steps up with some big sacks vs a very slow Arkansas qb.
UGA - 30
ARK - 20

#9 Posted: 9/14/2009 10:18:57 PM QUOTEGreat call last week, I remember everyone, including me, expected a low scoring game. I had UGA winning, but low scoring. I think you are pretty close on this one. UGA wins a shootout, and total sounds about right to me, maybe a little higher.
I see it: UGA 34 Arky 23

#11 Posted: 9/15/2009 10:43:08 AM Arkansas has been pointing towards this game since Spring Practice this will be Petrino's game. Cant wait to see the over/under on this one. If South Carolina can score on you then Arkansas is going to light it up. |

#13 Posted: 9/15/2009 2:18:14 PM ARK is dangerous offensively, regardless what they did vs. Missouri State. If GA plays that zone, there will be open WR all day, especially underneath. ARK running game is still a question, with many in the stable. From what I saw, GA did okay vs. the run and didn't run well themselves. GA is asking their front four to get down and dirty asking their secondary to make plays. I am thinking this isn't such a great idea vs. MALLETT and CO. Special teams is a question with ARK punt returner Joe Adams having trouble.
no lean as of now...

#14 Posted: 9/16/2009 12:23:44 AM This game opened at GA -3 back in August and has been bought down to a pk or -1 at most books.
I see it this way. Yea, Arkansas did play a pretty crappy Missouri State team down in Little Rock but they have had a bye week and have been practically preparing for Georgia since Spring practice. Look for Petrino to pull out all the strings in this match-up as the offensive scheme against Missouri State was vanilla at best.
Plus, I won't say Arkansas's defense is amazing now, but they have at least improved from ytd.
I'm playing over 54 and am counting on Tejada to give Georgia good field position off kickoffs, Arkansas's special teams to give up at least one big play, and Petrino and Mallet's offense to shoot at will.
Arkansas 35 Georgia 34
Over 54

#17 Posted: 9/16/2009 12:18:01 PM I'll take a uga team that has been tested twice over an arkansas team that has not been tested, yet. So many good teams have looked sloppy thus far in the early season, and I think Arkansas will look sloppy this week. The question is "Can a sloppy Arkansas beat UGA?".
I do not think so because:
- UGA has more talent than Arkansas
- UGA has a better head coach than Arkansas, (trust me, I am an Atlanta Falcons fan, too.)
- UGA players have confidence, (believe me when I say they are thrilled to have beaten the Cocks last week)
- UGA defense will step it up this Saturday, (South Carolina's stats last week are a bit misleading - no TDs in final three quarters by offense, and Garcia had game of his career - UGA still won)

Regarding your 4 points: -Not as much of a talent edge as you think -U sure about this? Petrino can coach, and Richt has been a letdown as far as I'm concerned at UGA -Careful here, emotional fatigue is real in college football -This is your worst point. U have no idea what UGA is gonna do on D and considering a brain like Petrino has been prepping for this game since August, I don't believe Richt can out scheme BP
All in all, I like Arkansas for those reasons, plus I'll give u another. They are much fresher than UGA. A creampuff and a bye week will have the Razorbacks ready to go full throttle in my opinion. BOL to all Ark-31 UGA-21 |

#19 Posted: 9/17/2009 9:01:19 PM QUOTEYeah, there is a strong point for you, let's see:
Richt in 8 years: 82 wins with an SEC schedule, 4 SEC East Titles, 2 SEC Championships, 6 Top 10 finishes Nationally, and 3 BCS Bowls Richt at FSU, two Heisman QBs, two National Titles. Have you seen FSU's record since 2001, Richt's last year as OC?
Petrino: won games in Louisville in the Big East, not much at Arky last year
Now Arky may win, they are at home with a good QB and rested, but your logic is suspect at best. Should be a very good FB game.

#21 Posted: 9/17/2009 10:59:46 PM Geez Macullan, it was his first year with none of his players learning a totally new system on both sides of the ball. Give him some time. And FSU w/o Richt has nothing to do with this, I didn't speak on his offensive coordinating abilities. And those record stats you gave are all fluff in my opinion...he loses alot of big games and has yet to be in a national championship and has never really been in the conversation other than 2002. And you say MY logic is suspect at best....ok

#23 Posted: 9/18/2009 9:19:43 AM I hate to go against hawkeye, but Ark's defense is suspect at best while UGA's may be suspect and filled with holes, they are a more cohesive group. I bet this game preseason at UGA -3.5 (OUCH) now I can get UGA at +2 and gonna make that play for sure. Petrino hasn't had enough time yet in Ark to get the players he needs and they lit it up against some glorified high school team in week 1-so what. This is SEC football and Ark is not there yet-Bulldogs by a touchdown or two. Will play the over as well:
UGA 38

#24 Posted: 9/18/2009 11:14:28 AM This game is a real crapshoot. UGA has been inconsistant in both games, Arkansas hasn't played enough to have any feel. I could throw money on either side, but I'd play an under for totals. |

#25 Posted: 9/18/2009 1:47:03 PM I would just take Georgia due to the fact that they went on the road to play OKST and USC. Arkansas has not been tested. Lookout, don't over cap this game... |
