Might come out sluggish in this one after than bowl beating laid on them by the Trojans. Then again maybe not.

I'll be at this game -- wonder what the line will be.  I expect something in the low 20s.

danstyk, welcome back, I might be at this one also. PSU is looking pretty solid again this season. Low 20's, I think the Lions can handle that. Good Luck this year d, I always look for your insight & picks.

27 is a little too high for me.  Of course PS is capable of covering it, even in the first half, but Akron will be running a no-huddle, which could tire out the PSU D if it is a hot day.

Akron covered last year getting 27 at Wisconsin.

 initially this one seems so obvious but the 27 seems high.  have a bad feeling about this one.  stay away from penn st.

Penn. won by 27 points or better 8 times last year.
Last year Lions won at Wisky. by 41 and Zips lost at Wisky by 21 points also Lions won at Temple by 42 and Zips loat at Temple by 42 points.
Lions also covered home openers in the last two meetings. 2006 -17 won 34 to 16 and 2004 -15 won 48 to 10
 
Might give the 27 points here.

watch out for akron's transfer back and their system.  could be some long clock eating drives and cover barely.  too many good games out there.  just dont like penn state here.

Don't like the Lions here either, 27 is alot with mostly all experienced speed threats gone not sure O will be as potent as everyone expects w/DC will come down to how good that D is this year - stay away or take the points.

PSU -14 1st Half as 27 maybe alot late in the game with 3rd and 4th string in as we ALL know Jopa will do in the 2nd half a non-conference game.

Penn St. always destroys and covers the first home game of the year against a patsy.......Akron isn't that good and Penn St. is still underated this year.  That QB they have will eat Akron alive......I can't see Penn St scoring anything less that 45 here.  That means I have to take the cover......this is the only game over 20+ points that I really like the cover on besides USC this week.

Irish has it right... Darryl Clark is a 5th year senior... guy is gonna eat the Zips alive... JoPa will want to get his young receiving corps some confidence, so they will have Clark and the starters in longer than you would expect... and of course Royster will break off at least 1 run of 60+ yards...
 
minimum of 45, like Irish said... possibly as many as 56... should be covering or close to covering at the half...

Even if they get up big early, I would not expect Joe to eat the clock in the 2nd half.  They have a whole new crop of receivers that will need to get work in to improve.  Same with the backup QB Newsome should he see action.  I do expect PSU to cover 27 here.
