Unreal fellas.

Absolutely sick to my stomach over Wheldon.

He was a hell of a race car driver.

RIP

Unfortunate. Really sad. Wheldon was an incredibly likeable driver.

vegasdennis-

Was there any discussion about why he didn't check up when the wreck started?  The guy in front of him did and it looked like he had plenty of time to get on the brakes.  He seemed like he just hit the guy in front of him at full throttle and launched.  Something doesn't seem right to me.  The guy is world class.

Hutch posted this in GD thread where you asked

I know the closing rate was insane. And I know one car in front did check up I do wonder if Dans spotter was slow in telling him.

Also some were saying a few spotters told drivers to go high but unsure who this was told to as never heard for sure.It did appear he stayed in gas the whole time

does anyone know if these indy race car guys have term life insurance, they make enough money that they wouldnt need it, but do they still insure them, since their job description is very risky?

anyone know? or familar with this topic?

Worst crash I ever remember. Was watching it live on TV and after hearing Paul Tracy interview had a good feeling Wheldon was going to be pronounced dead. Hell of a racer, better person with a great future in broadcasting ahead of him and still lots of racing left. Terrible tragedy, RIP.

This will lead to major changes in INDY car next season no doubt.

Wheldon was a rare talent, guy would have been in our living rooms for the next 30 yrs if not for that accident...He was already 1 hell of an announcer.

After watching several slow motion videos It is unreal. He looked like he was flying an airplane.

Unbelievable how long he was airborne.
