I could see the 7 and the 8 up there. But the 3 really surprised me. Another long shot hits the boards.
I took the 5 in the covers contest just for the odds, about 10/1 not too long before the start. But they plunged to 6ish to 1 right before they ran. Huge drop there. Probably would have taken someone different with the lower odds, not sure the 5 is worth only 6/1.

Well, in hind sight, there's no doubt he wasn't worth it.

I like saying that: the "Spa." Sounds kool. Makes me feel like an insider ... one of the kool guys. When you call Saratoga the Spa, it automatically advances your favor among the Horse Racing Gods.

Good luck to you too. I saw you hit a good one yesterday in the Covers Contest. Very nice!!!
Thanks for reminding me too, I always forget to make a bet in the contest until, like, the last race or so and I'm always stuck with a dud. :)
Thanks Top, I was going to say good luck to you with your pick even if it put you back ahead of me.LOL, but I guess we both already lost our picks at Saratoga. Hope you hit some good ones the rest of the way here and at Del Mar.

Looks like 5-9-1. The 5 took a little jump, not much. I'm liking the 9 for the odds though. I prefer the 9 at 7/1 over the 5 at only 2/1. The 1 is right up there, though, at 5/1.
If I had to pick in this race, I'd go with the 9 then the 5 primarily for the odds. Even though the 5 looks a teenie bit better on paper.

Still looking at 10-2-6. The 10 and the 6 each have only a single race. It's not easy to predict how those horses run in their 2nd race. A good percentage of the time they either don't advance in speed or even regress so you need some sort of odds to make those worthy of consideration.
The 2 is a bit more experienced with 4 races and they show constant progress.
I'd be hard pressed to take one of the others over the 2 here unless the odds were very attractive.

Although several of the runners here are capable of winning, it looks like the 10 and the 2 are gaining favor in my program. The 10 still has a teenie edge but I'd probably go with the 2 because of the slightly better odds ... that's how close these two are right now.

The 7 and the 9 have both moved up a bit here late. Either of those would win a few races if this group all raced each other 100 times. Need some really decent odds to consider one of those seriously, though.

The 10 runners only race was a little better than the 7 runners only race...only four ticks better the way I calculate speed points, that isn't worth the vast difference in odds.
I'd take the 7 at 18/1 before I took the 10 at 5/2. Just saying....
